The news as it was.. as it were..

Icedragon

When it rains it pours.. What caused the Aurora (Firefox developer) browser to shit the bed is anyone guess.. Yesterday I wasn't the happiest as the computer, old fart that it is becoming, acted up again.. Now when it stops or freezes I will shut it off with the power button and fingers crossed when it gets turned on again it will have to check a disc for consistency and run that.. And yesterday it did that and upon getting done I tried to get Aurora going and it started but then the main or home page is the FVD speed dial, and it showed nothing.. Just a white screen where the dials once were.. After trying several hours to avoid the inevitable restart or deleting the speed dial and reinstall which causes it to have to start from scratch.. I went to bed with that on my mind.. Today tried all the things to avoid starting from scratch.. But then deleted the speed dial, then reinstall and let it start over again and.. It didn't work.. I uninstalled the browser and I mean it was all gotten rid of.. Every trace of it.. Then went to my favorite site to down load it again only to see what might be a better browser.. I checked Aurora but the reviews aren't favorable.. Truth is I really have a strong dislike for every browser, or I should say they all have a slight shit the bed quality that I get pissed off about but.. And I quit using Firefox proper because it has a massive suck shit quality that drives me over the edge.. What I got was Ice Dragon.. Kinda like Comodo Dragon but where comodo has the Chromium platform system, Ice dragon uses Firefox... Is it better than Aurora??   Guess we'll see..

So we got these bulbs at the dollar tree in town and they are a singing and lighting type of fun.. Mom hangs one on the back drying rack and the other she hangs in the tree in the front room a week later give or take.. These are activated by a change of light, and so. During December the things sing we wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year, with music backing and a red light blinking show.. Sounds fantastic and it was great.. In December they rarely went off because it was a dark month with plenty of snow and clouds.. And then ... January hit, with more sun.. The one in the front would go off when a car went by during the afternoon, a quick flash and it went off.  The back one went off from about 8:30 or there about, off and on through the day depending on the light, and friends that thing got a work out at about noon one day.. They both did, in fact it was like a stereo effect at one point, me sitting almost right in the middle, the clouds going over one day activated them over and over.. After a while you ignore it because it is almost constant.. Then the one in the kitchen starts to lose it's umph.. Gradually it has been going down a little in pitch, getting quieter but then it starts to waver a bit developing a quiver.. Now today it sounds like it is on it's last legs.. It sounds more like a Halloween decoration.. Goulish..

Yesterday I was doing entries for the Phudge Nuts blog, and it was the October entries.. I was going along fine and then it the 12th.. And that stopped me in my tracks.. That fateful day this past fall.. I then thought I will have to do something special for that day.. So I started to work on something and then realized it doesn't have to be done today.. I've got a few months.. But that sure reminded me of that day..  Watched the video from that ...  And worked up a video.. I will work on it more through the year and set it later..

One of the things I kinda like about doing the blog the way I am is I am setting memes from now into what will eventually be seen eight months from now.. Sort of a reminder for those who need to be dinged about remember what happened in Flint Michigan, or that in Oregon with the idiot melitia.. Things of that nature so if anyone looks at the blog they will be reminded of that and hopefully vote accordingly.. That's the plan anyway..

Test successful

I was really afraid I was gonna have to come on here today and retract yesterdays entry about the black on black entry format that I was going to do.. Gee it can't be done......  YES IT CAN.. And if you know how to get it to be visible it is even easier to read..   There are no colour clashing at all..

BUT....

Not that there is a catch to that.. I was working on how to make everything work on another blog and while messing with another background for another PNOP, I stumbled onto ....  An interesting  way to do things, and that blog has the result on it now, but the name of the blog I have (Infinite Improbability) I came across a new way of doing things.. The Name was set up but wouldn't fit the way I wanted it to.. And so rather than try to make it fit.. I used it the way it came out.. I have to think there was a greater power at work there.. It wasn't the way I have ever done that before.  A shiver went down my spine as I looked at it and thought.. well why not??  And so I did quite a few that way.. What it was.. I can't get the text to be the way I wanted it, no program does what I want, Paint dot net, adobe photoshop.. Image ready doesn't offer text.. So where I got it was ... Windows movie maker.. If you know what you are doing it works extremely well.. Took me back to the wedding a few years back lining things up just right.. I don't even think they noticed.. But I did. Took several tries to get that right, now it is quite easy..  Really interesting how it came about and then the extra effects that I wasn't planning on has made that background unique.. Just the way I wanted it.. Hard to say if anyone will see it anytime soon.. Still working on it..

WHERE YOU BEEN???

HOME..

What's been going on in Silverton recently??  Well they've been getting snow.. Around  a hundred inches for the season so far.. Enough snow that several papers were stuck there.. We just got the Christmas and New Years papers this past Monday..

Playing in the snow.. In town..

"You want to get married.. At Kendall Mountain Ski resort.. In January...   Yep.. Sounds like a good idea..

As fun as it was to be up there in the summer.. This looks like a great adventure.. Now alls I needs is the ability to ski..

I wonder if this is the same Lynx that gets spotted every year.. What a beautiful creature..

I've never been to Silverton in the winter.. I bet it would be extremely secluded when it snows feet.. not inches..

So what you are saying is...

Are there any complaints about the new format here?? The layout of the blog, the way it reads, the colour matching of the page design and the way the colours clash??  The way it takes crossing your eyes to see some of it??  The colour matching some of the colour here and there making it hard to read.. that was by design.. Why make it harder to read???  It isn't hard at  all if you know how to do it.. There can be no complaints.. The layout has been hard before and it seams the harder it is to read it, the more viewers I get from around the world. Stop whining...  If you can't read it in the current format then Google how to read it.. You will be amazed how truly easy it is once you find out how it is done.. And truth be told that is how I read other blogs that have my colour schemes that make your eyes dance..  Enjoy it now because it's going to get harder to see in the very near future.. Join the rest of the world and learn how to read it in the black on black format coming soon.. You will be glad you did..   Like I said it is quite easy once you learn how to do it.. I'll leave it the way it is now, next week the colour scheme will be something you have never seen before.. Relax.. Cross your eyes... And see what it's like to see in a whole new light... Darkness..

L

The broncos win,  The broncos win, THE BRONCOS WIN...  and now they go to super bowl L... For those purists out there that is what number we are up to in the old roman numerals..

Why did they change to the regular number system???  instead of this, we have had this
Strange.. Also every game from the last month of the season through the AFC title game they have been talking about the behind the scenes of the superbowl half time show but have yet to say who that group is...  Who is it?? the mystery group is... ???  Well I have no idea.. I heard cold play but am not sure now, maybe it's just going to be a bunch of monkeys gathered around in a room trying to play tiddly winks.. I'd watch that..   Against all odds the Broncos won the AFC title again. Against all odds, really??  Everyone said the Pats would go to the super bowl again, and as the game got closer to the end yesterday I kept thinking this is headed for overtime.. You know it is... It didn't get there but.. What a game..  And then there was the Panthers and cards and truth is I slept through the majority of the game..   The match up for the super bowl is set.. So again the Broncos have no shot at winning.. Why bother showing up then??..  It's been that way all season.. The Packers game was a loss and they won.. The first Pats game with a backup QB was a loss, they won... And yesterdays game everyone picked the Pats to win.. The broncos won.. So who will wing the super bowl??

Watche a few shows this weekend, one of which.. Another rerun but had to be watched because of the time..

History of the Eagles.. Because of Glenn Frey's death last week.. They keep saying why are all these rock and roll people dying??  And my answer is they keep getting older.. If we could just stop that from happening somehow... But how??

Robinson Crusoe another I never saw this before.. Ever..

I put off watching this for as long as I thought was a good idea.. Keith Richards : Under the Influence and what a document it really is.. He runs the full gamut from the early days and his parents influence on his taste in music, to the whole of the blues, country and reggae and in so doing showed where his influence for the band he would be in for forty plus years The Rolling Stones...  Quite the show.. Showing where rock and roll was when they started.. I have gotten into discussions about rock and roll versus rock and that there is a difference.. Mostly is attitude and the fact that the early rock and roll was less about hi-fi and more about attitude..  This really is one of the better documentary movies you can watch on a legend.. They make fun of the fact he is still alive and I keep saying he will outlive everyone who dies before him..  That is quite a true statement although most people don't get it..

Watching into the second season of Continuum, there was a point in the show where I lost track where I was and what was going on.. I snoozed in one of the episodes and was lost the rest of the way.. This is my second time around with this show, gotta stay awake for what I can only call one of the better far out there tv shows..

Z-Nation is about zombies kinda like walking dead but with a twinge of humour..  But it loses me in that they are heading to California and got to Utah, then back track to Cheyenne Wyoming, now after last night's episode they were starting to head for Edmonton Canada, then decided to head for Minneapolis, Minnesota...  Why??  Z-weed..  And a possible  herbal remedy to their predicament..  Sounds like the show should be called Z tour America.. Make a gigantic z pattern on the USA.

Badge Henry

(P.S. The entries titled "The Saga" have all been reverted back to draft.. I felt like I was complaining too much about the situation my mom was in (is in but not as bad as it was).. There was a point there where she was on the phone to my brother and crying to him.. She was really feeling sorry for herself, and I get that, no problem there.. Then she was talking to her brother on the phone and telling him what a bad guy I was.. Mostly it has to do with the heat and how cold it is in the house.. I had put off showing her how to work the thermostat but then showed her, I figure she is paying for it, she can blast furnace it if she wants to.. She turned up the heat by one degree back after Christmas and before her ... situation.. Anyway she complains to him and the truth is when we got this programmable  thermostat, she gave the temperatures to set it at and now she says we should change it.. I'm fine with it, she will ultimately have to pay for it.. But she won't settle on the temps for the different time blocks.. Thankfully we are getting close to when the winter guard can be reset.. Last year she reset the account to come to her instead of dad.. that was a mistake..  But here we are closing  in on the winterguard sign up period.. )

wipe that

The reason the Bronco win the AFC title...:  They play balls out perfect football.. Defense plays as good of game as they have all season, wrap up tackles and have very few penalties..  Offense moves the ball playing third down conversion football.. To me when you pick up first downs on third down it frustrates the opposition's defense and makes them tired.. On defense the
the Broncos let the Pats across mid field and only that far.. Like the first time they played the Chargers where they were in a close game but the offense was frustrated, Rivers couldn't get the team in a position to score even a field goal to get closer on the score board..

On the other hand the Broncos lose because they have only played relatively well all season.. The highlights have been the Packers game and the first Patriots meeting where Osweiler had a fairly good game and was anointed the leader of the team, taking the team into the playoffs.. er to the almost playoffs..   The team loses because Bilicheck is the coach.. Kubiak is stuck in his ways.. Manning has to be allowed to run up tempo when he sees fit, Kubiak doesn't want to let Peyton run that in Denver.. Not even when it is proven change of pace.. Could Manning have a crappy enough game to be pulled out??  All the receivers have to do is catch the ball.. Something that seemed like not even a prayer could get them to do.. The Pats win tomorrow because that is what they do.. Brady is quite good under pressure.. But if the defense can dump him on his ass a lot then that would be great.. Frustrate him..  Sure they have a lot of injuries, who doesn't.. Hopefully this is the season that Mannig wins his second title, rides off into the sunset and waits for the Hall of fame to come a callin'

The second game, the NFC title game I pick the Cardinals to pull off the upset.. if they can keep the game close going into the forth quarter they can win.. The Panthers seem to play themselves out of juice by the forth quarter and then try to hold on for the win.. If it is tight going into the forth.. The birds win.. Possibly even if they are not that close..

I predict the broncos win 31-27  and the Cards to win 42-41

Exposition..

Schiller   Exposition Live from Beloise Sessions..

Yesterday's disaster .. avoided

Yesterday was a normal day.. When I went to check the mail things took a turn for the sideways.. Almost.. I was walking back and by the fire hall there is a massive ice sheet there and I walk carefully and even at that I nearly biffed.. Damn that was close.. Did some fancy dancing.. All I could think was if I would have fallen .. Busted arm, busted  ASS..  No thanks, that was no Fred Astair move but I did stay upright.. Whew..

Yesterdays phrase for the Google search was Eye to Eye.. And.. I got a few interesting pictures to mess with.. :
Originally this was a logo for something.. I went with the glowing edges on pretty much everything on this entry..
This was an eye shot.. What was used here was the kaleidoscope effect in Paint dot net..
Another kaleidoscope effect on an eye..
The windows into the soul..
And so on and so forth..

(Re) building an empire

For anyone who read yesterdays blog, was here for a while then deleted.. Apologies, yesterday was the shittiest day of the year so far and I know there are a lot more like that to come.. I was frustrated and wrote what I did and posted it and I shouldn't have.. There are other blogs for that shit, I just popped open the one I was messing with at the time.. Ok,, enough, new day..

BUILDING THE PERFECT BEAST: Well trying to build the blog to look remotely like I want it to.. Here and an PNOP blogs.. Here I shut it down Monday and tried a few ideas so.. Here is where it all started..
This was the starting point, believe it or not.. A GIF file but I really wanted this to be the site.. The motion, in full screen, makes you feel like you are falling forward.. GIF files are the greatest aren't they???

After getting a still shot of the GIF this is what you get.. Seriously i always wonder how that happens.. This is from using the Kaleidoscope setting and not having very many pieces because that would likely have made a mess.. Then what??  Well I couldn't see it.. Where to go from here??  I worked on dozens of other ideas while this was the logical choice.. I mean there it was just staring at me..

The peep hole from the triangle motel is such a go to idea.. Taken some time back it seems every trip to Silverton warranted a shot like this.. Taken right from the door of room number...

I will use the "glowing edges" effect from Adobe Photoshop on anything and everything.. including the picture above that I kaleidoscope then glowing edges to produce that above.. And this one here..

The original fire plug that was here for forever, Gotta have it.. Legacy and all that.. The original picture has been long lost, possibly from when I effected it and didn't know to keep the original picture just rename the finished product with the slightest of  things..  in my case it was a lower case "i"..

Putting the peep hole thing on top and the fire plug below and this is what we have now here.. And here is another idea..:
This really didn't work so.. The other is it and will be for a while.. Now for the other blog.. PNOP, this was and still is a work in progress and is in fact being done live, rather than shutting it down... There's a reason for that.. Don't rub it in..

Not a GIF file but rather a heavy pixel picture.. Lotsa pixels and was hard to look even remotely good when I resized it.. Too many tiles..

This one was the next idea, boxes in motion.. I really wanted it but.. Didn't work either.. Too big..
So after about ten more ideas this was settled as the base prism picture.. Other prisms worked but this has a presentation like area there in the middle there.. and will likely be changed regularly.. With what is there right now

Has this glowing edges effected broncos helmet in there.. There were any number of other things in there and will be that way in the coming months..
And then there were other ideas ...

An action shot.. Not used yet..

Typing in prism in the search box yielded this gem, and it was on the site for a short time..

This little guy I'm not sure where he came from.. The glowing edges has made his eyes off a bit.. originally a cartoon of a golfer..
Glowing edges did this to a football player running the football..
This bronco above was almost put in the prism for the page then.. Wasn't..
This prism was left alone and unefected and just put on the site over night..

The little golfer in the prism... Has sort of  a Marty Feldman look to his eyes, looking at his ball and the cute chick at the next tee..

(P.P.S.S.)

Rather than doing a pps infinum I thought I'd start another entry.. This deals yest again still with the making a murderer on Netflix which I've already done an entry for, and a P.S. and everything so.. Here I am using someone else as the main body of the entry.. Check it out.. From the Huff Post crime watch blog.. :

"Warning: Spoilers for Making a Murderer ahead.
1. At every stage in the criminal justice system, poor people in the United States, disproportionally people of color, receive less justice than anyone else.
When a criminal charge is filed against a person, a fair defense requires a committed and passionate lawyer with adequate training and resources to fight the awesome power of the State.
Anyone who watches Netflix's 10-plus hour series, Making a Murderer, concerning the Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey cases in Wisconsin, will see how Steven Avery's trial lawyers, zealously fight for their client's interests at every turn, personifying, at its best, the constitutional right to effective counsel. By comparison, viewers see 16-year-old Brendan Dassey's first lawyer announce to TV reporters immediately after his appointment that his client is guilty, only later to be removed by the judge for, among other things, allowing, in his absence, detectives to interrogate his intellectually and socially immature client -- yielding statements that would later be used to convict him.
Early on in the series the viewer learns that Avery is only able to afford to afford his lawyers after receiving a lucrative settlement in a civil case filed against the Manitowoc Police Department in Wisconsin (for railroading Avery in an earlier sexual assault case in which he was innocent, costing him 18 years in jail).
Not all "paid" or "private" lawyers are good attorneys, and not all "court-appointed" lawyers and public defenders are bad. However, it is a sad but true fact, as Making A Murderer ably illustrates, that the quality of justice in this country directly correlates to the amount of resources a defendant has. And, because, in the United States people of color are uniformly paid less, hired less, and have less, justice is, unfortunately, not colorblind.
Making a Murderer is filmed in Wisconsin where the population is overwhelmingly white, but it is important to remember that it is people of color in our criminal justice system, who, at every turn, disproportionately suffer the negative effects of race and class on our criminal justice system.
2. Police officers, prosecutors and other people in authority are not inherently good -- or bad.
Making a Murderer successfully shows that police officers, prosecutors and other public officials are no different than any other people: Some of them are "good" people and some, are very, very bad. It is important for us as private citizens, to remember this, whenever we interact -- during a traffic stop, when called for jury service, etcetera -- with people in authority.
3. Criminal defendants -- like victims -- have innocent family members who are deeply affected by the level of fairness in our criminal justice system.
The heartbreak, isolation and desolation of the Avery and Dassey families as they are forced to navigate the criminal justice system seeps through each of the 10 episodes in the series. With over 2 million people in jail in America, Making a Murderer reminds us of the many other millions and millions of families -- sons, daughters, parents and so on -- affected each and every day by their loved ones incarcerations.
Stephen Cooper is a former federal and D.C. public defender. He writes full-time and lives in Woodland Hills, California."

Basically said if you are rich play like there is no tomorrow.. If you are poor, be a good boy/girl...

Badge Henry

(P.S.  I've said this before but I will repeat it here.. You watch the show and get all excited "how can I help these poor men railroaded by the justice system.."  Just sit back and think about it and discuss with other people who watched the series and see how others feel about it.. Truth is here a week after watching it I don't know how I feel about it..  There likely wasn't as much put in there about the police and justice system.. I feel like it was extremely piled towards the defendants, and less about the police.. They did ransack Stevens trailer house on many days.. What they couldn't find anything in the first two or three times??  I feel like that is very questionable behavior on the law officers part.. You see other things said here and there and the truth is you hope that won't happen here.. But ever community has those questionable fabric people.. But they are living their lives, you have troubles with them, as long as they don't involve you everything s fine.. There are turns you can make.. Just stay clear of them.. Simple.. )

Welcome to the hotel california

A legend has died...  Glenn  Frey...  and I was trying to pick THE song that represents for me.. And here it is, here they are..  They, I can't pick A song.. on any given day it could be this or that.  They were the group when I was in school, and beyond...   Great party music no matter what anyone says..

The farewell tour, who knew that was going to be the farewell tour, they just acted like farewell tour 2012 or whenever it was  released.. Kind of a continuing joke like most groups who announce their retirement and then go out a few years later and tour some more..

You belong to the city..  The duo of Frey/Henley writing most of the Eagles music, how would they fair on their own??  Sadly for eagles fans they did quite well.. I say sadly because they would take a miracle to get back together again.. But they did..

P.O.S. in training

WOW!! And what a great win for the broncos yesterday.. They looked pretty good for the final preseason game, now on to the season.. But the trouble is this was the divisional round of the playoffs.. This season from the preseason through until..well now, has all looked like a team that has been trying to figure it out. The defense has looked good all year, but not great.. How they have won the games they have.. Lotsa luck.. There was a stretch of games the backup QB played and the offense played a half, and then quit.. The AFC title game will see the two best teams the AFC has to offer.. The broncos will win because... well they won't, but if they can pull off a miracle at mile high it will be the much leaned on defense, better eat you wheaties.. They will lose because.. Well the patriots are either that much better, or they psych out the broncos who knew they are better but just can't play them to that standard.   Manning retires after this season if they win it all.. Retires if they lose the AFC title.. Retires no matter what?? Relocates to the San Antonio Raiders because...

I watched that??  Check out the desperation for entertainment.. Not really, but football is ending very soon now...

I remember when this was all you saw.. The O.J. Simpson story ..  The show is 30 for 30 June 17, 1994 ... And was more about the hero fall from grace...

Storage 24, this was a "scary" movie.. Sort of the creature from Alien crossed with the creature from any other eighties horror flicks..   Scary only if you let it be..

Uncanny was almost completely predictable from the opening credits... Almost from the word go.. At first I couldn't tell which of the men was the robot.. Then after seeing the second person I knew which was which.. SPOILER ALERT ... Yep.. You guesses it.. They both were robots..

September child

Here we have another album recently completed and rushed into production.. While working on this set I thought why not do a full production of it like I did the Within Temptation live set thing.. So here it is..

Tangerine Dream Live  : From Pluto ... Now no it wasn't recorded from Pluto as you know no human has stepped foot on the planet.. This is along the lines name wise of the Rocking Mars double disc from a few years back..  This is kind of my way of putting a compilation of Tangerine Dream live tracks from their latest live releases..   Here I will review the set..   Here above is the front cover of the album..
 Back cover above
Center tray sleave above..
 Song list is as follows,
1 Rubycon, Now this is the more modernized version but the best part is they didn't feel the urge to put a beat to it, the classic VCS3 synthi sound remains fairly entact, just the use of more modern synthisizer..
2 Logos, as it was re recorded by Tangerine Dream but still has the song's main theme..

3 Asphedel and Stella as this track starts the Tempodrone show and was the first time I had ever heard it and is a fairly long opus..
4 Kiev Mission, classic TD off rhythm track a little showing off by the band here..
5 Song of the whale, as recovered by the band adding a dance beat to the classic, this really isn't even close to the original but I guess that is progress..

6 One Night In Space, another new track from the past ten years or so.. Has a classic TD sound but the basic drum dance beat that is why I left the fandom of Tangerine Dream and a lot of fans as well..
7 Midwinter night.. Classic from the Turn of The Tides album.. There really is none better from that era..
8 Cinnamon Road, another re-cover of a classic with a few added bits here and there..
9 Carmel Calif. is a nice swing in a different direction..
10 Mombasa is a track that is the start track from Lisbon set two..  Nice start and jam song..
11 Exit, full classic track from the album of the same name.. One of those that has a change in key that drops you for a loop..
12 Blue Bridge is  nice slow down and a signal that this is the very best track on the entire album.. Unless there are more songs to come..
13 Trauma, I believe this was from the hospital scene from the movie hector was a square..
14 La Liberation, this one is the final track of the show.. From Tempodrom it really does set the mood for the drive home..

What horse shiite, but really I liked these tracks.. Not loved them, the better tracks I left off in favor of getting songs I didn't already have.. Songs like Oriental Haze, or Melrose which I have on the Arizona show, recorded during the '92 tour that would produce the 220 Volt live album..

It takes a lot to go with these tracks of which eight I have in any other form but only a few were from live album form.. Leaving six to hold the banner "never heard this one before".. The most of the heard before were from the early days of the band and I know people were disappointed to hear them this way.. Including me but this is Edgars Tangerine Dream and not Christoph Franke or Peter Baumann's version of the band..  But it really isn't horrible.. Or is it..

La Liberation from Tempodrom..

The silver Boots of Bartlett Green... Not on this live set..  So what??

Tangerine Dream from Pluto set for release worldwide Tuesday, January 19 ...

I one

It's strange for me when the pot for powerball gets to be so high, in this case over one billion dollars that I will play and no sooner do I buy a ticket and I start to dream of winning.. "What would you buy if you won?"  Well because of the sheer size of the amount you can't spend it all in your lifetime. I mean you can but by being stupid.. But for my I would break it into thirds, give each of my brothers a third each and keep a third for myself.. They can do with it what they want.. Figuring the government would get a fair sized chunk of change, then bank the rest... Hold on, bank the rest??  Have you seen the state of the banking system these days??  Invest the rest.. What??  invest the rest??   Have you seen the market these days, very unstable... Well then what then??  Put it under your mattress..  between the mattresses.. That might be a safe  bet, about as safe as there is in the real world.. Everyone tells that they would go take a trip around the world.. I would like to do that but first, I'd like to see all of America first, or at least areas that I would really like to see, starting with our own state.. I've never been to the top part of my home state.. i'd like too see the Grand Canyon.. Everywhere, spend a year on the road.. Buy a camper or something and just piddle around the country.. Get the house worked on, get a few trees cut down and or trimmed..  "Buy a football team.."  Well if I had a few billion but even at that probably not... Just go places and do things..

The snow in June.. : The snow is melting.. As of today, January 14 we have now had snow on the ground for a full month.. At least 75% of the yard is still covered in snow, the memorial tree still has about three feet on it, hope that's ok... Probably it isn't but.. And then the thought turns to what ya gonna grow this season.. Truth is I tested the ground temperature last week.. Cold is a word I would use.. well under freezing and it should be.. You know I said this snow has been depressing for me here in the new year, Why??.. I'm not sure, usually snow cover isn't depressing at all but rather assuring, but I think it might be because of that tree in front being under all that snow (and leaves) that I am not sure or happy about things..  And really I do like snow covering the grass and shit but am just unsure about the tree being covered like that.. I likely won't cover it like that if we get any more snow.. Unless it were to be in April or May like last year..

Yeah, yippee the football team is moving...::  That sucks.. I think of the local team we root for and think what if they moved if they hadn't gotten  a new stadium...  Would I still watch them on tv??  My feeling is maybe, but likely not.. I'd be a fan in search of a team.. The Rams moved back to Los Angeles this week and ... Good for them, horrible for the city they were in.. And I hear they will be playing in a temporary stadium, what's that like an inflatable stadium??   They going to play in a pasture somewhere??  And then the Chargers likely will follow suit.. Good for them, two pissed off fan bases..   And Los Angeles who don't care for football...  Going from no pro team to overnight getting two and three wanting to move there.. The second largest market didn't have a team because nobody cared.. California is known for being laid back attitude.. Football is so.. UP..

Friday on my mind

this past Friday mom had to see the doctor.. So we go down to the new digs and to be honest this might be a hard thing for some people to read and agree with, in fact I find it hard to believe.. We get down there, mom has a fractured butt .. maybe.. She fell hard on it New years day morning.. We get there, I get a wheel chair and get her wheeled into admitting or checking in or whatever it is.. I get the car parked and get in there.. First thing you notice going in there is, this was a chilly day and mom is cold in July so.. We get in there, she checks in.. My sister in-law is there as well, adding to the emotion and confusion.. But she means well.. i get her wheeled to the doctors section down the hall or whatever you call it.. i call it a waste of money but that is just me.. bad attitude, me??  what???   we get her checked in at the doctors section there.. They give you a buzzer thing, it buzzes and you go there and a nurse gets you wheeled into the exam room.. What adds to  a bit of confusion is Lucy tells the nurse mom is really hurting, she took a nasty fall the other day.. sadly this is true, sort of.. .. the nurse then checks you in and asks what we are there for.. oh nothing really.. Just a severe ass breakage or not.. Hard to say really.. So she leaves and the doctor will be right in.. Lucy serves coffee and goodies at a shop there in the hospital and she takes her lunch break and comes into the exam room and talks to mom while we wait for the doctor.. All i could think was thankfully Lucy told them at the nursing station that mom was really hurting, a half an hour later the doctor comes in, but not before I opened the examination room door.. I hated it at the old place where they shut the door and forgot about us last time.. i swore the next time we were there I wouldn't wait for 45 minutes to open the door and then start talking about the medical staff like they had gone on holiday..   So this time I waited 30 minutes, went and opened the door and started talking like they were back on holiday or whatever.. He showed up shortly.. i hate being an asshole but I feel like they feel our time isn't important.. So he exams her and then sends her to radiology for an ex-ray... Friends I gotta tell you, the doctor said just go around the corner, he did say ex-ray, not Radiology which I put the two together because that is the first room you see as you come in the hospital..

And so I wheel her there.. What isn't so great about that room.. Well it's like this.. It couldn't be colder unless it was outside.. Let me explain about the doors to the hospital.. They cut corners on the entry way.. You go in the front doors and ten feet there is a second set of doors.. What that is great about is.. well it gives you a slight warm up before you get in the main building.. .. And that isn't noticeable until.. Until you are in the radiology waiting room.. Yep, chilly.. i couldn't complain, I like cool weather, they could move the room outside and I would be alright with it.. So we wait and wait.. after thirty minutes of waiting I go back to the doctors office and ask the nurses to ding the doctor about getting the ex-ray guys to get mom in there.. They tell me she needs to get relogged in, checked in for that.. Really??  thanks for telling us that.. she gets logged in and we go back to Radiology, they get her in and then everything gets done..

I   Was.. PISSED OFF TO THE MAXIMUM...  But it was probably my fault.. I went into this place and forgot we were still in the same town that had the worst reputation for giving a fuck in the entire state (we do things different here is their motto)... And I forgot that.. I forgot this is the same exact staff of nurses, doctors.. monkeytards..  So it was my fault.. I honestly thought they would be better.. And they are better.. For one thing they don't shit on the walls like they did at the old place..   Never mind.. My attitude sucked.. I will be better the next time..  I hope.. Or get tossed in jail..

Monday blues

Sad news today, I suppose,  as news of David Bowie passing away.. I say "suppose" because my feeling of anyone who is suffering from the effects of having cancer, I feel they are truly better off dead.. Sorry if that offends but I always feel that way about anyone who is suffering..  David Bowie.. I was never a huge fan of his music but did like the hits..

I bought the album Bowie : Singles collection quite some time back.  The version I got was a double disc and that meant a good number of what I call deep track hits..
He was also known for pushing the boundaries of dressing and using of makeup and looking quite other worldly in the seventies..

Then I think more for shits and giggles than anything else he tried to team up with Tin Machine of which I got all three of their albums.. It was a failed experiment but one I thought was worthy of a try..

Heroes was one of the great songs he wrote..   Covered by many..
Rebel Rebel.. Teenage angst...

Mojo top ten, maybe, maybe not...

Tin Machine under the god...  Experiment gone wrong??  You decide..

You Belong in Rock and Roll...  Tin Machine, fade to black...

This weekend was an odd one, the playoffs started and so football was king, even though I didn't care who was playing, I can snooze through any game..

The Wedding Date was very predictable but.. A good way to blow a ninety minute block in the morning while waiting for the football to start..

Some Kind of Beautiful.. With Salma Hayek, Piecre Brosnan and Jessica Alba was as the movie is called.. A rom-com and very well done...

30 for 30 Four Falls of Buffalo.. Remember when the Buffalo Bills made four failed attempts at winning the super bowl??  This is a documentary about those four years.. Very worth a watch...

Making a murderer (the review, oh goody)

So after binge watching the netflix show Making a murderer, my review is fairly simple.. I went into it without knowing for sure what it was going to be about.. And after the fourth or fifth episode I could tell where it was going.. truth is after the ninth episode I stepped back and thought maybe I should rethink it.. The guy (Steve Avery) was convicted of the crime (spoiler alert) and his nephew was as well (again spoiler alert) But strangely enough in Brandon's case he was coerced into a confession where he was likely not even there.. He was and still is a simpleton, you know not very bright at all.. They even said he had a fourth grade mentality..   To me while that may not excuse his being made to say what he said he should never have been in that room without representation because he was sixteen at the time, why he was allowed to be there without at least someone with his best interest at heart is beyond me..

Steve Avery continues to fight for a retrial even to this day.. he might be guilty, might be innocent hard to say.. Truth is this series might need to be re watched to see the very first parts to see what signs there are for what eventually happened.. I don't know.. The series was made by Netflix and was very pro defense (the side of Steve and his nephew) and I felt this way from the very start.. I did see in the tenth episode that I felt like it was biassed towards the defense side.. I think of people that this happens to and most of the time it is without what is unknown and people can't stand that it seems like people like that are evil when in more fact these people are unknown and have that factor.. It is the unknown that people are baffled by.. Leave them alone..  In reality my feeling is, without any idea of what might have happened it feels like Steve did do the act, but Brandon was coerced and that he should be released and let go to another part of the country but not that part of Wisconsin.. Just let be to live where he has never been.. Or be watched in a halfway house or something.. Should Steve be pardoned?  No I really think he might have done something there.. I'm not the best at knowing what a person is like.. i felt sorry for him through this series which can only mean he is likely guilty..

So what is my review?? What do I rate it.. Well watch it.. it does drag a bit at the seventh episode as they show things in great detail but it really is a good show.. They do paint Steve as a .. not a saint but a martyr  like person..  listen every person in jail is innocent.. Watch Shawshank redemption..

Badge Henry

(P.S. I read the story in People magazine and ..  truth is the show really was slanted towards the defendants more than anything else.. I won't sign the petition  mostly because I'm not sure how I feel about it..  I might have to rewatch the series sometime in March or April..  Truth is there was more to it than the ten part series showed.. I know hard to believe they didn't cover everything.. Maybe they will add a part later on.. Hard to say.. )

(P.P.S. here we have a review of the series.. I pretty much agree with everything the guy says, for the most part.. WARNING the guy is Australian  and so.. The language is a bit salty but then I've been watching his channel since last summer so I'm used to it..

P.P.S.

today is shit on  a stick day.. The start of the end I think.. Not that I  know but it sure seems hell freezing over begins now.. Tired of the cold?? Not really, I'm just tired of the contrast being goobered, it's white on white with a white background, or darkish dirty snow which nobody likes but tolerate..

I just noticed yesterday that was entry number seven in a row.. What gives.. I mean.. i think this shall be my last entry until at least Tuesday.. ...

Short but sweet.. By the way after working on Tangerine Dream concerts for the past few days yesterday I started on the Schiller lot which is four concerts after doing the first one on Monday.. Three TD shows were combined to make a fairly decent single disc.. These four will likely make  four discs, unless something happens and I find my tolerance shreaded after a couple..  They always make their shows interesting, no one show is identical to the next.. Anyway, I likely will gush about their music next week...

Unclosed ( )

(P.S. from yesterday's entry..  The rhythm and timing.. Counting is supreme.. Whenever I come across a song that I really like but don't understand the rhythm or timing or time signature, I try to figure it out.. Welcome to The Machine by Pink Floyd is one of the songs that in the early days I could not figure out.. What is the time signature on this thing.. Turns out while it doesn't sound like there is a rhythm, there is and there is a time signature as well.. It uses many, from 4/4 to 5/4 and 3/4..  You ever listen to Money by the Floyd??  7/4 is the primary time signature before in gets to the middle jam break where it reverts back to a more listenable 4/4 and quite easier way to jam, that way everyone isn't concentrating on the 7 count.. Stressful live... So back to the song at hand and yes it is called Kiev Mission.. but it was called Kew Mission on the first release "Exit" from 1981.. One of their finest moments.. Please prove me wrong.. Counting in 4  or 4/4 time as the beat feels generally like a 4/4 song, then the main theme starts and you can't keep it up because of the rhythm being inverted.. A progressive sound, and very progressive in their delivery.. Counting the snare on three means it could be there, that's where I initially thought it was.. But knowing Edgar Frose it isn't that easy.. It has to be on one of the count.. the guy was a music genius, and easy wasn't in his vocabulary..

So in this video we have.. What's the difference, it's the same song from about the same tour.. An outdoor gig, starting with the song Kiev Mission, with the sound that builds.. So why do the keyboards start where they do??  The sequencer wasn't set right for the very beginning as this song was the very first song of the evening, you can hear the keyboard start twice and on the second time it was still off.. The entry yesterday was right exact.. This is just a bit off but as the main theme starts the song is right exact.. Sequencing is primary to their gigs and there are those who aren't even sure they are actually playing anything at the gigs.. I wasn't sure any of them are playing an instrument or not..  Iris Camaa (the girls playing the drums) seems at times to just be playing some rhythm, but not the main percussive sounds... What gives??

Midwinter Night:  That changes with this song.. The keyboard player Thorsten Quaeschning does start the song playing the piano part facing the bank of sequencers that TD have been known for as far back as the mid sixties when they ditched the regular musical instruments and went totally experimental.. Linda Spa plays every reed instrument, nails her song perfectly.. Iris Camaa plays the drums, all the parts.. v drums as well.. This is just one of those favorite songs that I didn't think I would ever get to see done live.. Truth be told there were a great number of songs I wished I would have gotten to see be done live.

Badge Henry

(P.S.  added to the already P.S.  here are some of the members of TD.. to show yes they do play instruments.. And quite well I might add..

Iris Camaa  drums but here she is vocalizing.. Which she was doing long before joining the band..

Lind Spa (reeds and flute)  her song.. It's not over now..

Bernard Beibl, guitars...

Ulrich Schnauss ... I'm thinking this is the newest member of the band, seeing  that Edgar passed away last year and this guy was never in any of the shows that I can remember.. .. Tangerine Dream has vowed to move forward with  the outline of a new album that was going to be recorded this year.. Me personally I feel like the band was Edgar, and whatever he wanted and it was that way from the start.. So like it or hate it this was the dream...  )

5----4

Just to clarify something...  On Facebook as well as my other blog but mostly Facebook, the main reason I put stuff like this on is because, well my uncle is a staunch republican supporter and hates Obama with a passion.. You ask him why he hates him and he says he just doesn't like the guy.. So he puts all sorts of hate Obama bullshit on his Facebook and I put all sorts of reasons to do the exact opposite, not because I necessarily believe Obama is that great but because I think a republican being in the white house scares me beyond belief..

Here in this video we have a group playing a song.. The song title isn't important (Kew Mission), what is important, to those who are into music, music theory and the lot.. Is .. this.. This song starts out in the customary 4/4 time signature and you think.  "so what.."  Wait for the instrumentation to come in.. That's right.. This is in 5/4 time signature??  Listen closely, that's right.. Not what you were expecting.. Hell it still blows me away to this day..  The time signature is reversed..  The rhythm is exactly WRONG.. And yet it works.. They did this so much in the early days, they started it out, as you listen and think, what a nice dance song and then they reverse the rhythm and you think, this can't be danced to because of that very reason..  But you listen because there could be another switch.. There isn't.. But it intrigues you..  So the question is, is this in an odd time signature, 5/4 or something like that?? No, the time signature is 4/4 but the rhythm is just reversed..  Cool song.. Thanks for sharing.. You're welcome..

Badge Henry

(P.S. When I say the rhythm is reversed I mean when you hear the "snare" drum being hit, that is one in the count of four.. So it goes Snare 1 2  3  4  snare... Where regular beat in the way most people recognize it is 1 snare 3  snare... in the 1 2 3 4 count of regular time.. it is reversed.. one of several songs from their vast catalog of music that messes with time signatures )

(P.P.S.  For all those who have been trying to count it the way in the P.S. above.. It's funky isn't it??  But for those who think I am full of shit.. How to find out if I am right.. When the keyboard starts the main theme, it comes in on one.. Right at the snare hitting, that is one, in the count of four and it remains that way throughout the song.. There are times it sounds like it is in 5/4 but it never veers off from the 4/4 inversion rhythm...)

It's NO GOOD.

I was listening to the Steve Czaban show this morning and he was talking about the new NFL extra point rule where they kick from fifteen yards out.. They wanted to make it more exciting and to have people stay in their seats at home rather than head to the kitchen to raid the fridge.. I always thought the fifteen yards was a step more than it should have been.. They should have gone to the seven first, a whole five yards, then move it back to the twelve yard line three to five seasons later.. But the NFL is in a hurry to screw the game up.. Make it unwatchable as soon as they can.. He was saying what happens when your team loses a playoff game or even the super bowl because they missed a crucial extra point..  Yup, that might happen.. Guess we will see in the next four weeks with the playoffs and championship coming quite quickly..

I started watching that show Making a Murderer

I was tempted to watch it before Christmas but then thought I'd wait until later.. But with the show getting a lot of press now I thought I'd give it a shot so last night I watched episode one.. It is every bit as good as they say it is..  One of the best shows Netfix has produced ever.. I watched only the first episode and while you have a feeling what is going to happen it is still worth watching and very well crafted.. If you want to get pissed off this is the show for you.. My feeling is the guy got railroaded and even if he is a simple man (not very smart at all) he does deserve a fair trial and now (after episode one) deserves to be treated fairly.. Bet that doesn't happen though..   Check out what people are saying, type in Making a Murderer on your favorite search site.. You'll be glad you did..

Back to the grind..

The first Monday of the new year.. The mountain seems excessive to try to climb and in reality it is, that is why you don't look at the mountain, you look at the step in front of you.. It is amazing how quickly time flies.. I November I went down to get the Christmas tree and the decorations and knew exactly where everything was because it felt like two weeks ago that I had just put everything away..

The recent "what I have watched list" I passed on the past couple weeks because it was mostly Christmas hoggie..  hodge podge .. But there was one really good holiday fare (not so much, but you get tired of the schlock that holiday movies deliver.. So here it goes.. Along about the 23rd or so, right about the time Christmas fare gets old, I watched this non traditional holiday movie..

Lock-Out.. And it wasn't and likely still isn't on Netflix but rather on Crackle.. Yes there are commercials there but.. You take the good with the bad.. This movie is a favorite, and so I took the commercials and everything was fine.. This is about a prison colony in lower earth orbit and they do different things to the prisoners..    Interesting movie...   By the way.. a love story.. eventually..

Jenny's Wedding... This is a nontraditional wedding.. With Katherine Heigl as the girl trying to tell her straight laced family that the guy she has been dating isn't a guy at all.. It's her roommate of the past five years, Kitty.. Kate is a cute gal, played by Alexis Bledel, and strangely enough this isn't shown as the lesbian side of things but rather the struggle of Heigl's character to try to come to terms with the fact that her parents won't accept her lifestyle.. Not at first.. And the struggle to accept that this is how she is and has always been.. Very interesting movie to say the least..

Jackie and Ryan, trust me, I wasn't trying to watch a bunch of Heigl movies, in fact I didn't know she was in this one.. Katherine Heigl is a really good actress, but has issues.. This movie is about a guy who rides the rails (train car hobo type of thing) and he stops in Ogden and plays on the corner, plays his guitar and sings, and makes friends around the country.. He has come to Ogden to visit a friend named Cowboy, finds he had just missed him and gets ready to leave when Katherine Heigl's character gets hit by a pickup truck.. One thing leads to another and... It's a love story.. Aren't they all??

TV shows I am watching include the great tv show Continuum, from Canada's Shaw studios where some of the better tv shows are made.. Continuum I had seen up until the last six shows which netflix added.. I watched the first episode of the last few shows and found myself to be lost completely and so I chose to rewatch the entire series again, just before Christmas..

Last year about the first of January I started to watch Friends from start to finish, watching one episode a day until it was over.. I figured it would take until the end of August or about football season starting.. I then two weeks later started watching two a day which meant the series would end in May, around Memorial weekend.. I'm watching it again but this time only one a day and not really every day..

Awe.. um.. Well that brings me to the latest show to start last night.. early this morning was this.. Nurse Jackie.. Really an interesting show, fairly dirty, dealing with the inner workings of  a hospital and the people who work there.. In one scene the head of nurses is telling Jackie to stop working 80 hour work weeks and then turns around and asks if she can cover the double shift this coming Saturday.. Yep, I bet this happens regularly.. Scary thought..

Another show that I will rerun shortly is.. Breaking Bad.. Yep, you just gotta see one of the greatest shows ever at least once a year.. Come on now..

I forgot to flush twice to get rid of the bad mojo of 2015.. Guess that's why this year already sucks and we are literally just hours into it..   Oh well..  What could possibly be worse this year.. Wait.. Don't tell me.. I REALLY DON'T WANT TO KNOW..

Badge Henry

(P.S.  in the shit or get off the pot movement (a.k.a. what is going to happen with the phudge nuts blog)  I'm not sure what it is or related to  shitting or getting off the pot ...  But as far as the PNOP blog.. it's not going anywhere.. I mean it will continue through November, and on through until.. later.. So some entries have to be changed but will be moved to December, or even later.. Strange to be talking about December of this year since we just got out of that month.. But I am through to September now.. And feel good since I will wrap up the month of September by next Monday.. The gif files are pains in the ass to do (upload that is) but once they are all gone the PNOP blog will be done.. Finished.. And when will that be?? I currently have 981 gif files and if I were to never get another one I would have enough for 23 months of entries figuring the number I have been doing in the past three years not counting this past December when I did twelve every day for the entire month.. When I did December I think was in September... It couldn't have been done any earlier and I was well into February or March by the first part of October.. So two years from now.. Its a date.. )
