Goodbye yellow brick road

Watching you move to the left and dreaming it was going to continue but it hasn't.. Sadly I thought it might, as about a week ago I had a banner day of viewership on the PNOP site..  Over Seventy views and that felt so cool, I hadn't had a day like that in a while.. Oh well, what did I do to gain that kind of numbers??  I have no clue.. It must have been a glitch in the search engine or something.. I don't use tags for any of my sites, either my YouTube site or any of my blog sites.. The main reason I don't try to gain attention to any of my sites is because in the case of my YouTube site I do have some shows that are spotty as far as bootleg video.. Those shows "Seed" and "Cracked" are from the Canadian channels..  And my blog sites have television clips from all manner of shows all over the place from here in the states to Canada, Britain, Australia..  All over the place so I'm not wanting people to tune in and say put the whole show up there.. i've had that happen last year with a man called sarge, people were wanting that whole movie.. I wanted to upload it but I also didn't want to lose the videos that I have up there.. Many are family, and aren't replaceable ...

Mowed the grass yesterday and it was such a nice day ... Normally I hate the wind but yesterday was welcomed.. One thing that happened before I started I was getting everything ready and walked into the shed and I'm guessing I wasn't thinking (go figure) and with the shed I have to duck to get in the doorway and yesterday I ducked and rammed  my head into the doorway.. BONG.. BERGOING..  Ouch I said  in no uncertain terms..  And my day was set.. The previous times I mowed my back hurt for the next day so I thought here we go, bang my head on the shed doorway, this can't be a good start.. But I started on the front and moved then to the back and it was a nice way to change things up.. I rarely start in front, but after yesterday I think the front will be the way I start from now on if I can remember..    My back doesn't hurt today, another vote for starting in the front and when I got to the trees in back I had more patience cutting them out.. The yellow willow always seems like it trying to mug me when I'm mowing.. I feel like whipping out my billfold and bribing it..

Today is get yer plants day.. I've put it off as long as I can.. Today is get the plants.. Checked Walmart the other day (Wednesday) and this was the day after everything got hailed on.. And you could see the plants that got nailed.. So today I'm hoping to see what plants are still good to go and which are dead on arrival.. ..

I put all the video from Monday up on the YouTube site, a total of four videos.. The Memorial day program in it's entirety (with a few edits but not many) was included.. I wanted to do last years but something happened that kept me from doing that.. I didn't know how to edit last year, I do now.. The videos of everything was hard to edit, I hate to edit some stuff but I try ti make the videos more concise.. So, we have the entirety of the videos on dvd.. There's over an hour extra on every video I have done in the past few times.. Anyway..

Remember me

Rhino Rock Box entries are continuing, I want to get it as close to done as I can.. I just got the Nuggets II set completed.. Nuggets II is the fourth disc or fourth box set to be represented by videos.. This set I was sure I would have to do videos for, because the songs are so unknown.. But every song I wanted was on YouTube which made me happy.. I wouldn't mind doing a video but it's nice to not have to do that.. So many great songs from around the world, Nuggets II is just that great.. And some artists that were someone else before changing their name.. Nuggets II entries start in July, and run through August.. I think that is what it is anyway.. Late July to late August.. Four entries.. So we have Loud Fast and Out Of Control, Nuggets, Frat Rock and Nuggets II set.. Next up will be the British Invasion. More of the best rock & roll ever made.. I can't wait..  After that will be the punk music entries.. I have to admit I wasn't a big punk music fan but some of the groups that were (are) punk I got into after the fact.. Groups like the Jam and Siouxie and the Banshees I didn't know they were punk.. So it is a learning experience for me as well.. The punk rock set is the only box set of this kind that I got in the computer digital music era, the rest were bought at my favorite music store.. There was a thought and I think I had this thought before, would I have bought all the music that I did if I would have been able to get music by way of i-tunes or Amazon.. The biggest problem with i-tunes was early on they played a very short time in the songs and there was a chance a lot of the music that I liked I might not have.. Sometimes it's the way a song starts and sometimes it's the chorus or a bridge or just a feeling.. In the case of a lot of Tangerine Dream the songs take a while to get to the point where it would make me want to buy it.. So a lot of their music would likely not been bought.. Settling for their Virgin records box set tangents would have been the only thing I would have gotten..  Back to the entries that are the Rhino Rock box, the next two discs should be interesting.. The mellow hits of the seventies I didn't stick to the set, but I don't have the box set so, I guess I thought I didn't have to stick to the set and same with the millennium set.. In fact the millennium set isn't a true box set either, I just decided to make it a set.. Then the final disc is the Brit Box.. The modern British Invasion type of thing, from the now or the nineties.. And also the grandkids of Nuggets set.. So four more discs to go.. Should be a lot of fun.. And there is yet to be a song that I have had to make a video for.. That's good although I'm ready to make one..

P.O.S.

File this in the when it rains it pours folder.. Friday early evening I get the router to work after the techie from out ISP couldn't.. There was this feeling in the back of my mind that it was more than likely a temporary fix.. Last night as the storm was working it's way across our area I was doing some stuff on the net and sure enough the power dipped ever so slightly and the internet connection was interupted.. So what was the problem?? I start going over the steps of what could be the issue, starting with the power cycle of the router.. Well the router was the culprit before so it had to be this time.. I power cycle it, then try a few other things including the diagnostics check.. That turned up nothing.. Then I hooked directly to the modem.. Power cycled this and still no internet.. So after a few more things I decided to "pop the cherry" of that modem that I got Friday, So I hook it up, and get it going and still no internet.. Well was that a waste of time??  After two hours of going through everything I knew how to do the last thing I thought was give up.. So after a second runthrough of everything I already did twice, I gave up.. Set the computer to convert all the video files I shot yesterday and went up and watched boring as hell regular tv.. I'm officially hooked on streaming, after watching the Indianapolis 500 on the Roku Sunday I am hooked, plus there is just a shitload more to watch on this little box than cable has to offer (R.I.P. cable TV).. so after watching through the third quarter of the basketball game I came down to check the internet.. It was on!!.. But after checking some sites that wouldn't come on I had to reset the router security settings yet again.. So this time out of pure frustration it got a new name, the network has a new name.. Out of frustration i got some of the more interesting names for different sites, such as my Yahoo email address of buzzmunkey, this network got a new name.. Without really thinking I named it out of the hours of frustration the new name is "Fucking piece of shit".. So anyone who wants to login to the network here now has to endure my sense of PISSED off at computer technologies and the lot... The PW is the same, the network name isn't.   The idea is to get a new router shortly, of either the same or slightly higher value as far as better coverage although I have no problems with the roku getting the signal right now, a little stronger signal might be a good idea..

Last night I watched a movie, or I should say I got in on a movie on that new Cryptic channel on the Roku.. I was on the verge of deleting the channel but then I thought I'd give it a try.. It's a streaming version of the channel that is on cable tv and satellite providers (?)  (not sure if it is on any or not). The movie I was watching last night was ????  the sad thing about this channel is if you don't know the name of the movie or didn't get into it from the start it doesn't show the name of the movie, so what it was is beyond my knowing. But it was in black & white.. sort of.. This might be a public domain movie (in other words a pretty damn old movie) and so the black and white was sepia at times, and others it had a green tint to it. I had heard some old movies have this happen when they are on the shelf for so long..  But they show commercials on these movies, and what is great is they are period commercials, meaning they are from about the era that the movie was from.. I was on the Roku forum and they were talking about the fact that they show commercials from that era and back then they showed cigarette commercials and so they do here and someone made a complaint that they would not watch this channel and would delete it as well.. I think they are showing  what was there and yeah they had cigarette commercials back then.. I wrote that I felt like the Roku viewer was a little smarter than your average cable/satellite tv watcher and would not fall prey to these commercials (i.e. wouldn't go out and start smoking).. Besides I am intrigued by these old shows and commercials.. I like to watch for all the aspects of it.. This movie I watched last night was so oddly acted and everything.. The car chase included the incredibly hard thing to do, getting the tire squealing on pavement sound when you are on dirt road, and grass.. As well the tire squealing sound on grass pasture.. Umm fake.. Never mind, it was just interesting to watch.. I like watching these old movies for the acting, the story plot and how they get the plot told.. Everything about it, from lighting and angles and everything.. Lights, camera    action..

On to the next day..

Saturday's movie was Argo.. You know Argo the movie about the rescue of six American hostages??  I saw the previews over the past month and then decided to get it soon and as it turns out soon was this weeks three discs.. Argo is everything everyone says it is.. Talk about a period piece.. I was around, I was in high school and we heard the same thing every day for over a year, the HOSTAGES.. It got old but this movie was a nice flash back to that time.. For what it was, however much is true.. Just another great movie..

I watched the Indianapolis 500 today.. That was the quickest I think that race was run, possibly ever.. Some four yellow flags and no really serious crashes, it was actually quite boring to watch for those of us who like to see a good crash here & there.. Record breaking for the number of lead changes and number of people who had the lead.. All & all a good race, good but boring.. It's about the only Indy car  race that I watch..

Watching the last few shows of Bates Motel.. Kinda strange in that it isn't as creepy as I thought it would be, but still kind of a good show.. Clipping bits of that show for entries on the PNOP site.. Started watching the Apprentice (U.K.) as I think I've said.. This past week, or the week before (I'm a week or two behind) they had to do their own flavored beer.. The guys had delegated four guys who don't drink beer very much and one of them never drinks anything because of religious beliefs.. That was a good board room to see.. I have no favorite to win this year.. Last two years I had an idea who might win and the first year Thomas won, although I kept thinking his name was Chris..  Confusion there..  ..

Badghenry

So what did that mean on my Facebook when I said I did what the techie from DTC couldn't do??  Well Thursday night I was getting ready  to watch the Everest show I've been watching for the past little bit, and I turned the Roku on and it sputtered.. What now??  Well the router was acting up, or was it the modem??  OR WAS IT BOTH??  My ability to fix anything on the computer is limited to weather I can access the internet.. If I can't access it, I'm as dumb as they come.. So Thursday night the internet was down.. Friday morning it was down and I decide to call DTC and see if they are working on it.. Turns out they aren't so she walks me through a few test things and when that does n't show they will have to send out a tech guy.. I'm not sure we will be back early enough for the guy to get here and check it but.. As it turns out, we got here and he did come over.. He connects the computer directly to the modem just like I did when the lady I was talking to told me to do and everything he did I did except for one thing, he power cycled the modem. I didn't do that so.. I feel kinda stupid because I thought for sure I would have to get a replacement modem and bought one at walmart earlier that day.. The modem isn't the problem, it's the router.. So we are still without the internet to the wi-fi equipped toys (the laptop and the Roku).. So rather than give up and go and buy a new router today, I do some digging.. Now I have the greatest tool in the world for working on things computer oriented, I have the internet and more to the point I HAVE GOOGLE ... So I type in my problem and click open all the pages relative to the cause.. After reading several I get the idea to recycle the router.. Recycle the router as in power down and click the recycle button and do things that the pages  say to do.. Then as a last gasp effort after all else failed I put in the disc to the router and try to find something relevant to the effort.. Having to restart from zero, as if the router is brand spakin' new.. And I did, resetting a few settings (anyone who could get on the network here might not be able to now, but then again might just have to push find the router).. When it all was said and done it worked.. And that is when I start feeling pretty good.. I fixed what the techie couldn't.. Maybe he could have if he didn't have the weekend staring him in the face..

So Thursday I was looking at some videos again, the fractals that I used before in the majority of the Infinity Project videos and got so many ideas to try a few more, so that will be what I do.. What will the project be called??  I thought about it but can't think of any new name to call it.. Might be phase ?? Not sure..

I saw a laser effects video last night I would love to get and put music to.. Really awesome, it was on the Side Tick channel on the Roku.. Trying to find it online somewhere.. Really want this one.. Anyway what and internet adventure the past day was.. Hope it never happens again..

MKV

I have to say where I can I stay away from MKV files, not for any other reason than they are misleading.. I got four today not knowing, I thought they said XVID which are strait forward you get what you are getting.. MKV files are the shell.. They grow by nearly ten times when you convert them to a watchable file format..  These got huge today.. Can't complain too loudly although why not.. I can never tell when a file will be a MKV, it doesn't have those three magic letters to let you know what the file is.. I do read the listing and maybe it is the 720 as the magic tell of this is going to expand like a sponge.. Gotcha maybe..

Last night was movie night as all nights are turning that way.. Last night was a show called Surge and I thought it might be pretty good, turns out it was extremely predictable..  But I watched the whole thing.. Then I watched Everest : Beyond the Limit.. I did see some of it when it was on Discovery before but I'm not sure I saw it from start to finish.. Well now I am in season two near the end and last night I watched three episodes.. I get hooked on some shows and can't get enough.. This show is interesting but I have to say climbing Everest isn't interesting to me to do.. Too much can go wrong.. Anyway a fairly good show.. Looking for my next show to get into.. I decided, just like with Walking Dead, to get the latest season of Breaking Bad..  After the last show on Netflix (SPOILER ALERT) they could have ended it there, there were some story lines that weren't completely sewn up but for the most part the end of season Four could have been the end of the series.. I need to watch the first few episodes again, I wasn't that into it in the very first two or three shows, but like I said when he did that car window washer thing to that battery I thought this is a really good show.. The content (being about meth) might turns some people off but it is an extremely well written and produced show.. So I got the first 8 episodes of season five (the final season, so they say) and am watching this.. And because I have it in file format I am clipping it to load clips to my PNOP blog sometime soon..

The latest season of The Apprentice (U.K.) is now running and as with every season it has a slow start feel to it.. That won't last.. Such a different feeling from the Donald Trump hosted version (the original sadly is Trumps version)..  I'm clipping this show as well, and will load them to the site..

Nuggets

I got done doing the Nuggets videos for the Rhino Rock Box series of videos I am doing on the PNOP site.  How good is this set of music entries??  Everything I wanted to be on this set of entries was on YouTube so I was again extremely happy to not have to make a video.. I want this entire set to be done, all thirty or so entries, I think that's how many there will be.. Thinking about the entries this morning while doing my little walk (about as it were) and the next set to be done will be the Frat Rock box set.. I wasn't sure how many songs were doubled from the Nuggets set and I think there were five or six songs maybe..  Not excessive at all.. Thinking back I'm not sure which I bought first Nuggets or Frat Rock, but.. The songs of Frat Rock are the type you think of from the Animal House movie.. Hard to not have a good time while listening to these songs..

Well this week is the final days of school for the kiddoes .. The kiddies out there and I was thinking about the movie I liked to watch when this time rolls around and that would be my favorite about the end of school and that is Dazed and Confused,,:

None of what happens in this movie I ever got to do.. Much.. anyway a really cool movie..

Last nights movie was John Dies At The End and it is one of the coolest weird beyond all  belief movies I have ever seen.. Well not entirely true, I've seen movies that made me realize that those minutes watching that movie I will never get back, but this movie was just so cool.. I liked it from the very start and was into it all the way through to the end.. It reminds me of my own distant dreaming thing I do every now and then, where you are on the verge of sleep but not deep sleep and you can see things, or at least it seems like I am distant viewing.. This reminds me of that feeling.. Deja vu thing..  The Tuesday night movie night thing, with just about every show I had been watching done for the season almost every night will be watch the streaming player night..

Fruitful

Could streaming (such as via Roku) be the future of watching television??  The answer is yes and quite soon.. Or I should say it could very well be the future, the reason I say this is because the delivery system isn't quite up to par, however it is getting closer all the time. So there aren't any live channels are there??  Are there any live video streams at all??  Yes and with yesterdays events in Oklahoma I checked to see how many channels were showing it live.. The BBC dedicated two channels to it, CNN had it's two as well, RT had one showing it.. But it was the local channels that were showing live.. They have a section on nowhereman TV that has a live section now and channels like Denver KUSA show their news on the roku.. I also looked at Salt Lake City and Billings Montana just to see if they really are live..  So could they deliver the goods??  They can, but internet speeds need to get better and consistent.. Last week there was an announcement that some network would start streaming there programs.. This would be the first step for streaming programing.. The nowhereman channel on the roku brings so many channels it is just unbelievable..

So I came across a channel that I have had on the roku called GoDigital and found a movie I started watching there.. Then just to check I wanted to see if it was on Netflix and, there it was.. So I watched it on Netflix to avoid the commercials.. Normally I will watch the movie on whichever channel has it, but in this case I thought I'd be better off watching it on the Netflix.. The movie was called Rock Slyde and it is a sort of "b" movie wannabe but wasn't supposed to be.. It has that Patrick Warburton on it, and Andy Dick..  It's a fairly good movie, I liked it.. Kinda my sense of humor so I did like it..  and with all the shows I normally watch during the regular TV schedule about done for the season I am starting to watch more on the Roku.. Another thing that streaming players offer is VOD (Video On Demand) which is to say the video starts when you push play and pause or rewind or even fast forward which is something cable tv can't do unless you have DVR..

Mom says to me, I guess we can move the snow shovel, the season is over.. I don't know, it might be a good idea to keep it out at least through this last weekend.. I'm pretty confident we won't get any more snow but there is that in the back of my mind.. It's the reason I haven't planted yet.. That and, well I think after Memorial day is just a good idea.. There's nothing wrong with delaying planting, I don't think.. There have been times with the storms this past weekend that I was glad I didn't have anything in the ground and felt a sense of relief that I didn't have anything and thought wouldn't it be nice to not have to worry about this at all this year.. Take a season off.. I can't.. I have at least two pumpkins growing in starter cups..  The three sisters project??  If it isn't done this year will it wait until next year??  No because they engineer the seeds to grow from one year to the next, they won't grow next year, they will be worthless.. How they engineer things this way is beyond me.. But.. I have to decide shortly if three sisters will be done.. By the very first of June.. Shortly then..

Out in the wilds

The rain gauge showed half an inch Saturday evening after that storm.. That felt good and I was figuring that should keep until Tuesday or maybe Wednesday.. Then Sunday morning it rained some more.. After all was said and done Saturday and Sunday rainfall amounts totaled 1.7 inches in the rain gauge.. I wrote on someone's FB site that I thought the rain gauge was broken or cursed or caused the sky to think we were begging for rain and I was going to get a new one.. After this weekend I'll keep the old one.. That felt good.. Listened to the rain yesterday morning and it was just so cool to hear it out there..  Then later in the day mom asks if I could turn on the heat.. I really hate turning the heat on after it has hit 90 degrees and the windows are open, well some of the windows are open..

As we get closer to Memorial Day I was thinking of that year when we went down to grandmas house and I needed a tent because she liked her house warm, and I couldn't sleep in there the year before.. I slept out in the tent and it rained.. Not very hard but it did rain and this was the first time I ever had a tent with a rain fly.. The tent I used to set up when I was younger was the tent my dad bought for taking us camping in.. We went camping like three times I think including the time we were at my aunts house and we slept out in their front yard, my older brother me and our two cousins, Coleen and Bobby Jean.. Back when it was just fun..  I remember having the tent set up in our back yard and when it got hot that is where I slept during the summer sometimes.. I threatened to do that one time recently when the power was out and it was just hot as it can be in July or early August.. I didn't but I sure thought about it..  I have this "romance" or "fantasy" about tents and camping or camper type of things..

This past winter I caught myself looking at campers on YouTube, the teardrop type where it is just the sleeping area inside and the cooking area outside, a hatch opening to reveal this part.. Then looking at those R-pods that me and mom looked at a few days before she went in and had her SOS surgery done.. Dad would look at campers and day dream, pretty much I think this is where I got it from.. The idea of camping or setting up the tent instead of staying at a hotel, there's a certain amount of romance to that.. I catch myself looking at tents in Walmart, looking online at Amazon.. Day dreaming about camping..

RAIN??

I had to write this.. HEY..  IT RAINED!!  a full fledged storm with rain hail and the threat of a tornado..  Like I said there has to be the threat of a tornado to get ANY storm.. I switched the radar on this afternoon before anything was near to us and there was a crapstand of storm directly south of us nearly two hundred miles away, it showed it had two inch diameter hail stones and I thought that will hit us..  We did get some hail but very small bits of ice.. But anyway.. IT CAN RAIN HERE although the threat for more was quite real.. I watered almost the entire lawn. I was an hour away from having the whole thing watered.. Thanks.. Good enough..

I switched on the chaser site just for S&G and they were all there around that one storm south of us.. Was it that nasty of a storm??  Turns out it was a storm south of us but it was in Kansas, and not Colorado.. There was so many chase vehicles I couldn't tell where each one was.. I was trying to upload the gradiation video from Thursday night so I couldn't get the video from these chasers to show.. I stopped trying to upload the video shortly after the storm got here so I could concentrate on getting the radar site.. Little did I know the internet went down as the worst of the storm was hitting here.. Bummer..

The videos from Sunday were split into thirds, and the reason was so that they all could upload quicker...  ????  Really??  Well the thinking was that I rather think shorter videos get more hits and also they seem to upload faster although that's not true, I mean fifteen minutes is fifteen minutes weather it is all together or split in thirds.. So I tried to upload them last night while I watched the Friday night concert music program.. Strange how they seem to upload quicker while I am streaming something at the same time..

Heart like a wheel

We went to the nephews graduation from preschool last night.. Headed for the big K next year.. I asked him how it felt to be about to start to school next year and he tells me he isn't going to school, he is going to kindergarten.. My mistake, I thought that WAS school.. So it isn't??  Anyway while we were out I had set two videos to upload to my youtube channel, and we get home at close to ten and the computer is in down mode, resting or whatever it is called and I think, maybe the videos got uploaded and it went into hibernation mode.. I restart it and ... it was 90% complete, video two, the first to start to get uploaded was 90% completed, the other was not even started.. WTF and then I remembered, this computer doesn't upload to youtube as a priority, it needs  a second program running to make it stay on.. I usually keep i-tunes running when I'm not on the computer messing about.. So again i screwed up again. The videos will get uploaded today, later or tomorrow..

So Ian got his continuance diploma to scurry on to kindergarten and his teacher was talking and she says tomorrow they have to do this & that and I says they have to go to preschool one more day after gradiating and she says  yes they do, and I said well aren't you afraid they might come in hungover.. Or pull a power trip like "I graduated from this dump, you have no authorita over me"..  And then silence.. Crickets chirping, I'm getting used to that..

Did you see that radar last night??  Did you see those storms yesterday???  Man it looked promising for moisture.. We had the gazebo up until I saw the storm looking so serious.. Then I took it down, and I swore as soon as I got it down the sun came out.. Thems the breaks..

Froth & tenth

A week later it happened again and this is getting old very fast.. last week I stepped just right and jarred my back, and the next day it was hell to walk at all.. yesterday I was looking at the pumpkins in their little starter cups and stood up and my back grabbed again..  So here in the past few months
my back has grabbed three times.. And each time it just floors me.. These last two times rank at 8 the pain I was in, hard to walk but able to.. The August back strain was a 12 on the 1-10 hurts don-it scale.. It was next to impossible to walk and even hurt to breathe.. That time it was a pen that did me in, and to be honest with you when I drop some things anymore I weigh just how badly I need that item before I chance bothering to pick it up..  I'm walking (gimping) around walmart yesterday and was in the wrong part of the store with a serious strain going on, I found a knife for carving watermelons and thought, this could help my situation..  So most people might say don't do the things that hurt you, makes your back hurt. Ok, so I will stop checking my pumpkins, walking in the yard, picking up a pen and the one I remember from four years ago pulling up my pants after taking a crap.. Stop all these things and life will be better.. Good enough.. I'll start tomorrow..

On the blogs here (the three I currently do) an explanation of certain.. things.. The PNOP blog is set to have entries show new at two in the morning everyday, that's two our time or three Google time which is of course west time zone.. This blog goes live with a new entry most often when I get it done, but every now and then I schedule the entry for times.. Yesterday's entry was done the day before but the time showed a and minute because I decided to just have the day be different and not the time.. It was set exactly 24 hours after it was completed.. Same with the music video site Infinite Improbability..

Got the new UI (User Interface) on the Roku installed.. I had looked at the roku forum and people were mistaken that they would get the new UI from the channel store, it was never going to come from there.. It was in the software update screen.. And that is where I checked almost daily since the announcement that they would be updating the UI.. So how is the new UI?? it really is a marked improvement from before.. There are three rows and it is vertical and horizontal rather than just horizontal (the channel guide doo-hicky)(technical talk I hope I didn't blow anyone away).. They have added scads of channels lately and I have added most that don't have a god theme to them, and trust me there are twice as many religious channels as regular ones.. I add and am most admiral of the scary movie and that type of stuff.. I always think well we'll look but probably this is just an overlap channel there can't be that much zombie esk type of stuff, CAN THERE??  Turns out there is a lot of scary movie wannabe type of stuff including indie movies and made in the basement type of movies, extremely low budget or what I call not even 'b' grame movies.. But interesting.. Is Roku gonna hit the thousand channel mark before the end of this year??  probably not but it sure seems like they are well on their way.. I think they are very close to the 800 channel mark now..

Feld the record fall

Video settings and things.. To say the least this time last year I was doing experimental videos all over the place.. What I didn't get then was why the videos I shot with my camera were not working on the movie maker program and then suddenly the program started to work with my MOD files.. And then just as quickly they stopped working shortly after the wedding video was completed..  The past few times I did videos I converted them using the AVC (Any Video Converter) and it took so many trial and errors to get a setting even remotely close to a good one.. The fact that there are what looks like lines on the video when the camera moves was just disheartening for every video I shot.. So much so that today I decided either there would be a codec fix or something would have to give.. After searching for a codec fix and finding none, I went is search of yet another converter.. This time, and you would think it would get easier to find one, I did find quite a few.. The best are likely payfers but there were a few free programs.. One from a site that talked it up, I tried to download even though the site it was on the reviews said it was trouble.. I tried to download it and sure enough the situation that the reviews were talking about raised up right away.. The Vipre program kept me from downloading it.. Too bad, it looked promising.. I got another but it left a watermark on the videos, very unacceptable.. Then my third try would be File Factory, which turned out to be a dud.. Then a little time clicking buttons on the program and I figured it out.. The only thing I had troubles with was getting the setting to be what I wanted and after a few tries I nailed it.. It will convert to just about any screen size which is good but to be a usable file I decided to go 480p.. I can get 720p and 1080p as well but movie maker is best used at the 480 setting.. For wedding videos or anything to be set on dvd I would go higher for full screen greatness.. 480p will be easy to edit and then upload to my YouTube channel.. So it will be a few more days before Sunday's video will be up on the 'tube.. I'm not a perfectionist I just want it to look good..

Shorts

So here is what happened with the PNOP site back in March, I ran out of things to post.. Just the well was empty.. First time that had happened ever and although I was several weeks ahead I was thinking crap I'm empty.. This could be the end of daily entries and might just be hit and miss on entries.. Luckily I had a few sites on RSS that I hadn't looked at regularly and once I started looking there I found the well fill quite fast.. Now I have enough GIF files to make it through the next two years (thanks mostly to having collected many over the years).. The video clips are plentiful, enough to get through until September I think.. And the sites I get these odd shit things from have built up a lot as well..

From Sunday having Tabitha's girls down, the video I shot was about 58 minutes and from that will yield a few videos as we watched what I shot yesterday morning and I'm mentally thinking keep this edit that put this here and everything.. Mom thought I got video of Ryan (Rhyan, Ryhan??)  but as with most babies I find there really isn't much to video when they are that young.. Get a few more months and there is more character to be seen.. Anyway after watching all that I shot she asked if this disc had just the girls on it and I told her it was the disc that started with the Christmas concert from this past December.. The one where we walked into the middle of it.. And so I put on the video and there he was going nuts on stage there.. I thought well here we go.. And then there is this coming Thursday when he has his graduation from preschool.. We had him Saturday and when we took him home the subject turned to graduation and I told him thirteen years from that next day would be his graduation.. Hard to believe.. The class of '26..  Scary..

Hot and dry.. Just the way I like it ..  I've never said that before ever.. Hot and dry, Last year I predicted a long hot summer and this year might be even longer as we got about 90 yesterday and will get about the same today.. The rain we were supposed to get last week, didn't happen.. So I'm watering.. More than I want to but we gotta do what we gotta do. I told mom if they talk watering restrictions that I will sacrifice the back lawn, would have done that last year but mom wanted it all green so I watered every day last summer.. That won't happen this year, I'd rather drink it than have green grass..  I'm selfish that way, also I know what not drinking water can feel like.. No fun at all..

We got hail magnets last week (nice yard decorations, mostly fragile fiber optic type of cool things) but I'm thinking I will put them out in July rather than now.. We didn't get anything like that last year and we got no nasty ass storms.. This year we haven't even had a threat.. But then again we haven't had a rainstorm yet either.. I guess you get the threat of house relocation and rain or you get no rain at all.. I told mom last year I don't remember getting a single mosquito bite at all.. Guess that's the plus of living like it is Arizona, hot & dry..

Floating above the Earth below

This movie was previewed on yesterdays movie via disc..:

I can say it is either the music or the way the trailer was presented or maybe I was in the right frame of mind but I watched it again just now and the trailer alone gave me goose bumps.. I'm looking forward to seeing this movie next month (release date for Netflix is June 13).. Seeing the clips via Youtube makes it look like a pretty fantastic movie..

The movie of the weekend by disc was The Apparition..

The movie was an hour and 23 minutes long so you know it should move along a fairly good clip.. Well it sorta doesn't.. It's an odd movie, while I liked it, truth is it is a movie made to have a sequel  or two.. Strange how it got to the point where something might be about to happen and something did happen, the credits rolled.. Wait, did I doze off for a second there??  Nope, it actually ends right there.. Ten minutes more and  they wouldn't need a sequel.. But I'm sure there will be one..

It would start with a ...

Alright, for the past month to six weeks I have been in "next week I'll start it mode" and putting "it" off to the point where Thursday was cutoff day.. What is "it?"...  It is the Rhino Rock Box video entries.. For the longest time I have been thinking I would do it, but then I just thought better of it.. Then Thursday I thought I would check into starting the entries, the worst that could happen is I decided not to do them anymore.. Then of course I started to do the entry and realized I wanted to do this.. The music being the deciding factor.. The old rock & roll being the deciding factor.. The first disc is old rock from the very earliest of the rock & roll music form.. Is the entire box rock & roll??  It is rock & roll with some being forms of rock, soul, blues, rhythm & blues.. A really nice collection, and a good lot of it is of the one hit wonder variety, and some not mainstream.. The one box set I didn't get was the heavy metal or hard rock set that would have included groups like KISS and Deep Purple.. The reason is I had everything by these groups that I wanted, and that was on that set.. I really don't like redundancy as you will see in this set where two sets overlapped in the Nuggets and Frat Rock box sets.. This video project was slated to run through the summer and I thought it would be nice to have it do exactly that, and then I realized that each disc in the box set represents a four disc set and are the best songs from that set.. So they will each get at least three entries which is three weeks.. So the entire video project will last at least through the rest of the year, if not overlap into next year by quite a bit.. Then the ESSENTIALS box set, an original set designed by me, could be set after that which could take us to a year from now until these sets are completed.. Then the music entries would be done??  I'm sure I'll have more ideas.. Let the music play..

What music does the Rhino boxes represent??  I was thinking of this earlier and have thought of it ever since .. getting all of them.. And the music represents the and part of my taste.. To me the bricks in my taste in music is the hard hitting heavies such as groups like KISS and Rush and the Stones and most mainstream groups (Pink Floyd).. The groups that are the bricks in the house.. The groups that support these is the ones represented in these box sets.. Some groups are more than a one hit wonder, some had big careers and some were huge in other countries as will be evident when I do the Nuggets II set and the Brit Box as well... The mortar that holds my music collection together as it were is found in these box sets, and non box sets.. What an interesting trip it will be..  Let the music do the talking.. Check it out, listen with an open mind.. This is rock & roll..

The Experiment

Wednesday is jack shit on the tube night so I went in search of something to watch on Netflix.. I was using that Flixsie app to find a movie to watch.. Then I couldn't find either of the movies I saw on that app I looked through the sycological thrillers and this one popped up.. THE EXPERIMENT.. What an interesting movie.. Being told they can not use violence at all or they forfeit the money they were promised.. 14,000 dollars is what each man is playing for.. or a thousand dollars a day.. Two weeks, is all.. Some of the men will be prisoners and others will be guards..  what a fantastic movie this is.. Forest Whitiker and Adriane Brody..  Great flick..

Then last night after watching the BB episode and Jericho I switched over to Cinema Insomnia on the Zom-Bee channel.. Watched a little show they put together about the zombie movies that were put out after the Romero classic Night Of The Living Dead..  Included so many clips of movies related to that movie.. I know there have been a lot of zombie movies recently as well as a tv show (Walking Dead) but the number of early zombie related movies was just unbelievable..

Pour some sugar on me

Well that was a quick week.. Yesterday at just before NCIS came on I restarted my FB.. Wow that was a quick week, and yes sometimes the weeks do seem to fly by like this.. I have decided that Facebook will never be what I want it to be, which is a close second to Twitter.. Twitter ranks far and away better than Facebook ever was, or ever could be.. I found out a few things while I had FB out for that little more than 24 hours.. One, I can get information about news from Sulia and it is extremely good for that.. The news on FB is limited to what I have as a follow type of thing.. and second, I guess I will get whatever I get from whoever posts on Facebook for a while longer.. I'm trying not to post anything on there for the week that I was gonna try to stay off but.. Some people post things that just need the BH touch but.. Trying really hard not to comment on a couple peoples posts.. Just so easy pickins..

We watched the nephews today, and Ian says to his grandma, do you know where tornadoes come from??  and my quick answer was Kansas, it's their major export..  Crickets.. oh well..

This mornings burning question  women like to do this in the morning and men in the afternoon.. And my answer was the old log drop.. I'm an evening type of guy.. The actual answer was pay the bills.. What fun was that??..

Vice

There's a channel, or was a channel not sure it is still there right now, on the Nowhere TV on the Roku that is called Vice..  It's sort of interesting, but it now is a show on HBO that follows real time and is Bill Maher's production.. This is really a pretty good show, makes me wish there was more stuff like it on the tube..

Stories from all over the world ...

When you think we've got it bad economy wise then you see how Europe countries are doing and realize that our government wants US to be like THEM, and the bull shit sequester and the fact that our congress hates the people they represent.. Hate might be too strong of a word, they misrepresent everyone.. Yes they make promises they can't keep and sometimes make promises they have no intention of keeping.. We say "VOTE THEM OUT"  and the truth is they have their districts so rigged that they are almost guaranteed to stay in office.. It's a "win-win  (screw you guys) situation.. How much did each candidate spend on trying to get into the whitehouse this past November??  Just remember, your twenty dollar donation was a waste of money.. Hope you got a write off  for that because unless your name is Koch you really don't matter and you don't count..

The FLDS  a serious off shoot of the mormon later day saints is the one where multiple wives is the norm.. Check these two clips out.. It's called getting out of a bad situation but wanting to remain close to the family for some odd ass reason.. So many religions are this way.. Is this one a cult??

They asked the kids this question and they all answer YES it is.. When the leader got tossed in jail he had some 70 wives of ages ranging down to 14 years old..

I had never even heard of Gavage until this story..  This is in an African nation where women are looked upon as being not only healthy, but desirable if they are large.. Nearly obese..   *WARNING:  BARFING SHOWN!!!

Golden Dawn.. Well look at what it looks like and what it ... Looks like..   Seriously strange.. But just think, it could all happen again...

A week of living dangerously

This is something I was going to do last week and thought about it ...  Today I decided to do it.. I'm trying to leave Facebook..  Check it out.. :

"Hi Badge,You have deactivated your Facebook account. You can reactivate your account at any time by logging into Facebook using your old login email and password. You will be able to use the site like you used to."

From the deactivation email they send out.. The reason for leaving FB is, I use it for all the wrong reasons and most everyone I have "friends" don't really use it at all..  Hardly anymore.. I post all sorts of stupid shit on it and.. Besides I have these three blogs and several Myspaces to post stuff to.. Remember myspace?? Anyway .. Facebook is dead to me this week.. Hopefully anyway.. Last time I tried this I went to Google+ which proved a few things.. They are all alike..  More than anything else they are all the same thing.. Why not just have email?? You want to know what's going on in my life talk to me.. Anyway gonna try to give FB the heave.. Maybe try to start one with my real name on it??  Highly unlikely..

Listen.. Hear a pin drop

I've always said that when I believe in something or get turned on to something, I dive head first into it, and learn as much as I can.. Today after watching the Sunday movie via netflix (disc rental) I switched on the Roku and was gonna check into some channels that I got recently to decided once and for all if I was gonna keep them or not.. Yesterday I did the same thing and ditched a few, although they might not be horrible channels, some were just not quite what I wanted or felt like I had the base of the channels content on another channel already.. Today I came across a couple music or internet radio channel type of apps.. First was Earbits..  Earbits is fairly good and goes in depth on different genres of music to where if your taste in something like jazz is what you like they might have a good number of subgenres to try to find that niche you are looking for.. I liked it, I rated it four stars and moved it up on my list of channels/apps into the area of stumbling onto it.. And to show I did check it rather than just holding on to  where it first was situated on the list of my channels.. The second music channel is called Soma FM.. Soma fm is by quite far the best music channel I have stumbled upon (no pun intended there) since getting the Roku streaming player.. For the most part it has 22 channels, that's all just 22 for now.. And these music channels are really good and some are fantastic.. Most if not all the music is what they call underground.. From every style.. The country channel is called Boot Liquor "Americana Roots music for Cowhands, Cowpokes and Cowtippers", Drone Zone "Served best chilled, safe with most medications. Atmospheric textures with minimal beats."    After I listened to a few channels I decided to try them all just to see.. There is maybe one or two that I don't like very much but for the most part they are all great music channels on this site.. I'm not a big fan of any radio these days (music channels and that includes XM satellite radio) so for this channel to grab my attention for around three hours.. You know it had something good to listen to.. I'm not the type of person that listens to what everyone else listens to, not mainstream by any stretch at all..

I was seriously thinking about trying that Borgia out via torrent but then saw it is on Netflix so, I think I'll give it a go that way..

This weekend had three movies (discs) and the one that stood out the most was Hysteria..

This movie did make me laugh out loud and very few movies ever have done that.. Very enjoyable movie all the way around.. It could have been porn but wasn't.. Just an interesting subject, to think how things must have been like way back then.. Very interesting movie all the way around..

Lay flat

Ok, my last entry was a bit of a joke.. I never put money in my shorts.. Mostly because it wouldn't stay there..  Anyway last night I watched my usual fare on the tube (as we called it back in the day when it actually had a tube) and that was the usual Wednesday night fare.. Wednesday is squat diddly on the tube (networks and everything) and so I watched an episode of B.B. and then looked for that movie to watch. You know that movie??  I had seen it on the front page of Netflix every time I look at the site both online and streaming.. What was it called??  I looked and found it, a scary movie.. Was it a scary movie??   couldn't remember.. Then I came across the movie.. Here it is..

Lay The Favorite,.. Yeah I'll give that a shot.. It started out quick and stayed that way.. No napping on this flick it moved so quickly that it was on the final credits before I knew it.. Just a really good movie.. Bruce Willis is just one of those actors that hits the mark on just about everything he is in.. And this movie he is just the same perfect character..  And Rebecca Hall, what can I say about her.. Yeaowsa..

May Day

I know people are getting tired of the snow.. I'm not.. I will admit i like to see it snow and would love to see it snow into June.. I'm the odd one here.. But to think, and think here you must.. We are about seven weeks away from the first day of summer.. Seven weeks from the first day of summer I would bet anyone that it won't be snowing.. In other words by the second week of August there will more than likely be no snow in the forecast anyone want to take a bet with me.. .. I'm always the first to complain about the heat and usually that is in early May, although this past Saturday/Sunday when the temp hit the upper 70's to low 80's I almost complained (I am ready for summer to be OVER..)..

Yesterday or whenever it was the big burning question was where do something like 15% of people hide their money.. The answer was shoes.. My answer was different but better.. Me answer was my shorts, while wearing them.. Think of that the next time you get your change..

I was in one of those convenience stores today and I got to get a pop out of the cooler thing and a piece of paper catches my eye.. On the door next to the one I have open there was a notice saying HELP WANTED , APPLY WITHIN.. An of course I instantly thought help in the cooler??  That's for me..

Nice snow.. Nice snow..  I was thinking about that Breaking Bad show that I wrote about on the prior entry here and when I feel like things are that trashy, the way I feel when I am watching this show that can only mean one thing, the actors are doing their jobs to perfection.. Whenever you get that invested in a character then someone is doing their job.. The writers, directors and the cast..  After I wrote that entry I went in search of other videos about Breaking Bad and watched shows with the cast on it being interviewed.. Really interesting to watch the cast away from the show.. I watched the lead actor be interviewed by Howard Stern (of all people) but it was a really good interview.. The guy played the dad on Malcom in the Middle and earned enough money from that show that he really doesn't have to work anymore.. Must be why he has won so many Emmy's from his character on Breaking Bad.. Must be able to relax now.. Anyway it gave me perspective towards the show..
