It's the end of the world as we know it...

I'm apparently fine with watching the same type of movie two weeks in a row, last week with the Steve Carrol movie Seeking a friend for the end of the world.. This week.. This one.. :

These Final Hours about yet another asteroid event that wipes out all of humanity.. Or a lot of people.. Anyway another thought provoking movie that makes you ask what would you do in the final hours of your life... In this case here the asteroid has already hit and the countdown is actually on..  Sort of the continuation from last weeks movie, the after it has hit and the effects traveling around the globe wiping out everything.. Would it be better to be the last to go??  In this movie the movie has a sepia effect to it as it gets closer to being over it gets more of that effect.. Sepia or a colour washing, whichever it is.. So when you are faced with the end of the world scenario just know that it will be sepia colour tones you will be seeing.. I did not know this..

Todd Barry crowd work series of shows where he just went in and talked to the crowd.. A very interesting way to do a stand up routine.. But aren't the best comics able to work the crowd like that..

30 for 30 Elway to Marino.. The story that evolved with Elway and Marino.. That's John Elway and  Dan Marino, in that great class of QB draft. The story about how Elway simply would not have played for the Colts and with good reason.. It would take the Colts until they did move to Indianapolis and got the right people in charge before they would be very good.. And Peyton Manning, that didn't hurt..

Exit through the gift shop .. Strange name for this interesting movie.  A documentary about street artists (taggers) about the growing phenomenon of street artists and those who just simply tag everything.. I don't have a problem with this until it gets out of control.. So far we don't have that much here in Point of Entry.. But that can change with our virgin walls.. But maybe that would be a good thing.. Maybe that would get them to cover it with a fresh coat of paint.. That way it would stand out more..

Payback.. The main reason I watched this was it was slated to be removed from the Netflix lineup by the first of September.. And I think I had seen it before.. It seemed like I had.. The end of it was very familiar..

Dane Cook went from nobody to the hottest comedian in a very short amount of time.. This show, Rough around the edges, was filmed at home, Madison Square Garden and marked his crowning achievement..

I Dream of Wires.. A documentary about the history, demise and resurgence of the modular synthesizer,  From the very beginning with Robert Moog and a great number of others.. The movie skipped over some of the musicians that were very instrumental in getting things going.. Kieth Emerson of Emerson Lake and Palmer fame as well as Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke and Peter Baumann better known as Tangerine Dream.. Pink Floyd.. So many well known artists that were skipped over because without a lot of these guys MIDI might have been longer to happen..

Narcos is about the fledgling days of the drug trafficing from south America.. A Netflix original series.. Fairly good show so far.. I watched episode one last night..

Finally the show that got me to one this morning "You don't know Bo"  .. About the phenomenon known as Bo Jackson..   I saw some of this great athlete in action when it was going on.. I dreaded the Broncos playing the Raiders when Bo was on the field.. And I even remember watching when he got hurt.. It didn't seem that bad and then they replayed it and yep.. You could see what happened.. Really sad for his careers to end that way..

The sun goes down (odds and ends)

Well the smoke and haze is here from the northwest fires.. I passed on last weeks photo op but thought I'd give it a shot Friday night.. And last night as well.. This is from Friday night..

And then I started messing with the camera.. Different settings producing the next few..

The elevator  was fairly dramatic but.. I should have gone out and gotten more shots..

The moon was just as dramatic a few hours later.. We are headed for a full moon shortly that should be fantastic as far as getting great moon rises..

The thermometer for the compost tumbler.. This shows at close to 140 degrees.. I should have gotten a shot from the day before, it was 150 degrees and the instruction manual says it can get up to 180 degrees.. That radiates the weeds so they just become compost..  Supposedly..
This is Saturday and I was really excited to go out and get the shots that I went out early (around five) and it would be over two hours before the drama started.. But it wasn't that great.. Well until later that is ...

Driving to get to another place I noticed the sun through the trees and tried to get a good shot that way..

The "home office" always adds a lot of dramatic shots.. Same here with a smokey sunset..

These last couple or so .. Well these were caught in the sun visor there at the edge of the top of the windshield.. That little strip of blue there acted like a nice filter..

Nephew Ryan enjoys  a little upsidedown tv watching this morning..

Pretty rough on a Sunday morning..

Well as far as the garden is concerned the drama of the pumpkins is really letting up as now the vine sprawl isn't as impressive.. They have pretty much completely stopped with the sprawl.. Having dogs run through the patches at least once a weel for the past three will do that.. Now I'm just hoping they will get done..  One pumpkin popped off the vine when I was checking all of them to see if any were starting to rot.. Had to store it in the front by the porch to hope it is cool enough there to keep it from starting to rot.. It will be in the 90 degree range for the next ten to 14 days.. I'm ready for summer to be OVER..
