P.S. that was normal

The little boy steps up to the plate, his eyes glazed over.. This is his first time to do this, he knows what he is looking for, he studied for this for the past two days.. He sees what he studied in the pamphlet and sees them. There it is, all the bounty and it's all there for the taking.. He sees the rockets, they look so pristine in their display.. Eyes the tank, a tank or two or three what a variety.. this is the candy store with a kid in it.. A kid in a candy store but it's not that.. It's a kid at a FIREWORKS sales place.. Thursday we took the little guy down and... Well earlier that morning he was looking at the little pamphlet sent via the newspaper called Ka_BOOMERS... So exciting.. Where does this excitement come from??  I out grew fireworks many years ago.. A friend of mine back in the day, this was his time of year.. He started in about what he was gonna do with his fire crackers and it was his 24/7 addiction.. I felt it a bit but never went bonkers.. I liked the fireworks time of year mostly because this guy went off his nut.. Now here we were Thursday with the nephew at his very first ever (I think anyway) fireworks purchase and he was glassy eyed.. He stutters fairly bad but on this day it was a little more pronounced.. He was as I said the kid in the candy store.. What to buy... what to buy..  The rocket was his first must have.. This rocket is fairly small but more sturdy than anything I ever remember having back in the day.. Then he got a tank, oooh that should be fun.. The third thing was a rocket hanging on the wall up there.. I told him he has five dollars to spend, that's all and the guy working the stand heard me so that rocket... not gonna happen.. He settled on a box of fire crackers.. All told it was four dollars even.. I'm sure he had something else in mind but this was enough. Got them and headed to his house.. He was wanting to play with the tank and mom was telling him no you better shoot these off tonight or they might not work.. That tank might not work..  Thinking back to when I was little my dad would get the little yellow box of fireworks every forth of July.. Then we talked him into the next box up.. He was rarely around for the forth, he worked summers for a guy doing farming work and the forth was always harvest time.. so he rarely got to see the fire works.. Either my older brother would set them off when we were little or after a time we both would set them off.. I always wanted more fireworks and wondered what that big box would have been like.. After a while and more to the point as I got older I didn't want to buy them because they used to have a lot of oooh and awe quality but they seem to lose that as they seemed to have less gunpowder in them..  For my nephew explaining that he will never be satisfied with more..  Just that will never sink in...

(P.S. (You had to know there would be a post script)  Um... the computer worked well yesterday.. Enough so that I got an extra week entries set for the PNOP blog..  Here's the situation for what drives me over the edge..  The computer locks up, and most peoples computers go through this and this one is no exception.. But for me, I get to where I'm wanting to do something creative either with the blog or editing video or working music or any of the things a computer can be used for.. When it locks up it frustrates me, frustrates everyone I'm sure but for me it is just.. Too much to bare... So here's what happens on a typical lock up.. I'm working along on whatever I'm doing and the program stops.. I see the little circle thing there on the screen as it turns around and I know it has locked up.. I will most times get the task manager to shut the program down.. No problem.. But when task manager isn't quick to start, then I get agitated and reach for the power button on the computer tower.. This shuts the computer down.. Turns it off.. And then I turn it back on and get back to where I was a few minutes before.. Well I had to do this more and more all the time and then Tuesday happened, the day I turned it off up to 70 times if not more... I was going to restart the computer, i.e. go from scratch, so I started getting all the files off the computer that I wanted and sent them to a "life boat" computer in my moms laptop.. This got everything off the computer and set it so that I could restart it with the discs you are supposed to make after you first get your computer.. I did that with the old XP computer but with this one I put it on a flashdrive and labled it and when I went to use it..  It wasn't recognized as the startup... The restart program.. Well then what is on this drive then?? I'm stuck with a computer that works a bit but not much really.. I've got a few more ideas but a techie might have to be called in to kick it a bit.. Trying to avoid it but it might be the next thing..  )

Cats be funkin'

I've always said that the blog PNOP would only continue as long as I liked doing it.. Well the computer beat me to the punch.. I do like doing it but can't because the computer is acting up a bit, and so it is with a certain amount of sadness that I say that PNOP (the Phudge Nuts On Parade) blog will go on suspension after the first of July... And will return when I can do it again which could be the next day but likely will be unknown.. If you liked that site which five people looked at it every now and then, sorry.. but you know sometimes it's good to not do that anymore.. This blog could replace that one but for one thing. It's not the same 'tude as that one is.. That one is for shit I find on the 'net and share with whoever will view it.. This site is my opinion and ideas about things which even fewer look at.. I rarely upload stuff here so it might work better.. Currently I use the computer in "safe mode with networking" which I can do some stuff but really can't do much.. I've said this computer is heading for being a nightlight quite quickly.. But I'm trying everything I can to get it to work and when I give up... That's when the world ends..  Until then..

In the buff, ready for reaction..

So I posed a question last week or, the week before, not sure when via my Facebook that read "has anyone seen the show In The Flesh" to which I got crickets as answers.. Absolutely nothing in response so I got the first season which was a three show run (on the BBC4 channel out of England) and it is (was) really a good show although a bit slow..  It is a little like The Walking Dead with the exception that instead of killing all the bitters, they are rehabilitating them to be be brought back into the general population.. To which those who lived through the first "uprising" aren't too happy.. The lead character starts the first episode being prepped to go home, where he will be brought back into the house as if nothing happened.. He was caught in a store, eating on someone,  by his sister who is in the hunt the dead army..  His death before turning was by his own hand, he killed himself..

So is this show better than Walking Dead??  It's not anywhere near that show.. To give an example, while watching Walking Dead I rarely looked at the remaining time on the player (either the DIVX player on the computer or the Roku this past month) and on In The Flesh I find myself watching the remaining time countdown.. I'm afraid it might be the only way it keep me from dozing.. Now I am watching season two and it is starting off just as lost as season one was.. Season one had to move quickly because it had three shows to get the story done, screw character development, we're off to the races... Over all it is a good show but I'm not sure how truly good it is and doesn't stack up well against the Walking Dead show here in America..

About games and having fun

Yesterday I was looking at the computer in the afternoon and checked the weather like I do.. There were systems building in the south but I was only looking at them to be mild storms if anything at all.. Well after getting off the  computer I see out the window dark clouds but i figure a little storm, we weren't being targeted for much, the storm radio hadn't gone off since the test at ten yesterday morning.. Then I'm watching the shows I watch and then the scanner goes off with thunderstorm warnings in a town south east of us. Nothing to get too excited about, this town is some twelve or so miles as the crow flies, and it is a little nerve wracking but I thought I would come down and check the radio to see it it had gone off.. It hadn't yet, good news.. Then shortly they had their spotters out as well a tell tale sign that things are getting serious, storm chasers were at the doorstep watching the clouds.. That's when you know you better be serious so they send out their spotters and no sooner had they gone out than the order was given to blow the CP whistles in the town.. They would do this in succession in Sedgwick, Ovid, Julesburg, Big Springs and then Brule, all within a half an hour period as the storm moved fairly quickly out of our area.. But about 9:30 to about ten last night the all alerts radio did go off and I figured when it got into our neck of the woods the radio would go off.. Normally I wouldn't care but we had the nephew here and if there's anything he loves to do is to get FREAKED OUT  by a storm..  I was down when the radio was going off hoping he wasn't listening to it, but he was in the front room watching a tv show on the Roku and heard the radio go off but wasn't able to hear the tornado warning being issued for a town fifteen miles away and east of us.. It might have been enough for his dad to freak him out.. I decided to call it a thunderstorm warning and it wasn't for us, it was for east of us and moving away.. Nothing to worry about, and it wasn't anything to worry about, keep watching this show you've seen fifty times before.. Nothing to worry about here, move along.. Staying cool.. I looked at the weather situation on my tv using the Roku to see what was going on.. really there was nothing for us to worry about.. So why freak him out, he's mister tornado this and that but get a cloud in the sky and he freaks out.. No reason to do that..   I start to watch my after ten show on the Roku and followed by the weird Wednesday on Zom-Bee TV channel on the Roku.. My favorite channel after Netflix..  You just gotta love the weird..

To where

From the bleakest of bleak to the ... opposite, I guess.. After I got through the final set of The Walking Dead on Netflix I was looking for what to replace that time slot with.. Should it be the show Warehouse 13.. Maybe.. How about Survivors, a re watching of that short series..  I watched it at the same time I watched Walking Dead last year so there was some confusion about why this episode didn't run.. You know the one where they were in the test facility??  Where they were about to be killed and then I thought where is the helicopter chase scene.. Turns out that was Survivors.. Mixed those two shows together...   No the big decision was made to watch the series The Bible.. You read that right, I started watching the Bible last night.. I'm not a religious fanatic so it seems out of place for me to be watching this show.  I figured, why not watch it.. So I started part one last night and will watch the series in succession to the end in nine more days.. Then watch Survivors and then Warehouse 13.. I tried to start watching Lost a while back and just couldn't get into it again.. I guess knowing how it ends (SPOILER ALERT)  that you know at the very first show what ends up happening.. Yep.. I mean the injuries are too massive and they even say they found them in a later episode, they say they found the jet and that there were no survivors.. So what there was supposed to be a big reveal at the end that they weren't dead??  Nice try.. It was a flukish show that it stayed as high in the ratings as it did for the entire run of the show..

As I put it on my Facebook that my little nephew has gotten me hooked on Crazy Machines again.. Again, and truthful I was going to start it again and it is habit forming, once you start to figure out how to play it.. What I liked about it is the game is full on logic.. But it's getting to that where this gadget makes this do that.. The heavier thing isn't needed to do what a lighter object will do but.. In one case I thought a cannon shooting a ball (cannon ball) to do what as crossbow could do, but the cannon what was given to do the job.. So I used it.. Strange how that works.. But it is fun.. Ian can't read the directions on what they want done but in reality the directions are so vague most of the time it's just guessing at what needs to be done that gets the job done..

Anyway... Time to ride..

That was then

A couple weeks ago I got this gem.. Never heard it before, not on the box set..  NOWHERE..  It is the demo version of Detroit Rock City by KISS..  Or more to the point, it's the demo version that Paul Stanley put together for the Destroyer album, where he did the vocals on all the songs on that demo which included God of Thunder.. This really shows how much Bob Ezrin's influence on the album was fairly strong, both this and God of Thunder which changed tempo and feel when Gene was tabbed to be the lead vocalist..   The demo that this came from is the first picture of the band, the name of it.. Of course it is yet another fan set, built by the fans for fans.. ..  The pictures I put together for this was more of the early pictures of the band before they broke big, the struggle seems to show in those pictures.. More my favorite time with KISS was just before they concurred the world with Alive! and the next three studio albums where they could do no wrong.. And then... The wheels fell off.. But for a five year period, they were a band of heroes..

Thursday early phase

Videos are back on PNOP ... I was able to get Chrome to work simultaneous with while I watched a couple of shows yesterday and the result is a few days of videos uploaded to my site.. Then the chrome browser crashed and so with it uploading any more videos.. I have entries set to the first of July. Off and on with video, hoping to finish the videos over the next few days..

Hey, I wanted to say.. I follow a channel on the Roku via Facebook and they had a thing that showed what was on last night (Tuesday).. You know the radio stations run that Tuesday twoplay thing??  The channel I follow is called Zom-Bee tv and it has "scary" movies, most of them Public domain but a lot of them are odd little numbers..  So what was the promotion the were doing last night??  Well it was actually all day, and it is called TITTY TUESDAY  and it is old tit flix.. Old and odd.. Last night it was Nude on the moon and it was from 1961. So interesting of a movie I will say it wasn't a a good movie but it was so "b"  that it might even have been a c movie..  But true to their calling it a titty flick, it was.. Nude on the moon and they were.. Interesting how they landed in a crater and they didn't see this colony from Earth, it was in a deep crater, with water running, grass and trees growing.. And our heroes walking around in primitive space suits that were more designed for partial security from spraying bugs and weeds on Earth than to protect from the harsh realities of the vacuum of space.. But that was the realities back then..  What me worry???  No reason to..

Re me

The new string of reissues by rock & roll icons from Led Zeppelin to Kiss to Pink Floyd makes me scratch my head in wonder.. First off it is really strange for a group like Led Zeppelin to be releasing what they are because Jimmy Page (lead guitarist) had made the comment some ten years ago that while compiling the latest concert material for How The West Was Won and DVD that there was nothing left in the archive, don't even ask for more, that was IT!!  fast forward to now and here he is not only remastering the entire catalog but there is also remix material.. To me it is easy to do that to your music by way of eliminating the acoustic guitar or whatever, but they wouldn't do that to the music, would they??
Reissue to vinyl really loses me.. To have a reissue then place it on the ultimate analogue delivery.. Don't get me wrong, I liked my records collection.. I was really proud of it and I had every Led Zeppelin album.. Then got the remasters on compact disc.. While it might have been a slick sound, I liked it, no more background sound from the motor turning the disc platter..

Pink Floyd is in the middle of their third or forth or fifth reissue of the entire catalog of their music.. The reason??  New technology to make their music crisp.. Also to give the last two albums the vinyl release they never had..  Momentary Lapse of Reason and Division Bell, and redeluxe release of everything on digital form.. The discovery set shown above is having every album reissued in a box set..

Then there is the new KISS ultimate of ultimate sets, the everything on vinyl release.. And compact disc and extras that make you drool..

So what is it about these releases that people find attractive enough to shell out the big bucks for??  If you don't have but a couple albums by say Zep then you might want to go that route to get the latest version of the albums.. I got the Led Zeppelin vol II album that still lists Whole Lotta Love as being written by the four guys only.. Later they had to change and add Willie Dixon as a co-writer where actually they kinda stole the riff  from him.   The Pink Floyd set also includes the 5.1 mixes and never before seen videos.. So many little goodies to want, to need as a true fan of these groups.. To me, on the Pink Floyd releases where they missed out was releasing something fans would really dig into.. On The Wall release they added some of the demos done for the album.. I had heard them, and was able to get them by way of YouTube and other sites..   But demos are what I think a lot of people would love to hear by the Floyd, and in particular the original Momentary Lapse of Reason, you know the one where the album was deemed "not Floyd enough"  And for that matter the album that was nearly finished as the follow up to Division Bell..  Bits and pieces that were started but abandoned.. The household items album that they started but left in favor of Meddle..   There's so much they never released, I'd love to hear the demos to that.. Groups miss the boat on things like that because they think fans deserve only the finished material, and not some bits and pieces album.. But they would be surprised at how many people like to listen to the creative process that demos deliver..

I also don't know how much money the groups make from these releases.. For the most part, bands don't make much money from record sales and never really have, the money they make (made) was from touring.. That's why groups would go out on massive lengthy tours.. In the beginning KISS released an album every 8 months until they made it big then the tours got to be worldwide and the tours made the money to make the next album.  To me I had only a limited number of KISS albums, the original vinyl releases I had the first three albums via the album called the originals, and that was my first box set.. I remember the "trading cards" had strange things about the guys being able to jump over buildings on a single bound and these weren't far fetched to the fan in training days when I was in junior high.. Anything is possible, I mean look at their faces.. THEY'RE NOT HUMAN  are they??

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have these releases, all of them.. But mostly for the extras, the booklets, the pictures.. The remixed and 5.1 mixed albums..  But it isn't that big of a deal. I'm still a fan.. Still love these groups.. They are the IT of influence, I can't stand most of the music from now.. Most of todays music sounds like it was recorded on a bedroom demo tape machine and released as is, no need to make it better.. Well it doesn't have to be high fidelity, the speakers are those little tin fucks on the phones.. No need to sound good.. Or ear buds   eww barf....  I'd rather have ear muff style "cans" that fit over the whole ear.. But what I really like to hear my music on is the speakers.. Crank it up, the neighbors need a rock & roll lesson..

World turning

I don't know about you but I'd rather look at a computer at a store and buy it online... Most people say that and in fact most people do that.. When my mom went to get her a computer a few years back she didn't let me know that this was what she was planning to do.. So had she I would have been looking online.. So when she dropped that bomb on me I thought well I had just gotten a desktop computer so I still had an idea of what was out there.. But laptop/netbook (notebook) computers are a fairly different beast.. They run most of the time on battery power until it runs out of the ability to charge then it's buy a new  computer.. That seems like the attitude most people take, the battery is ruined now it's time to buy a new one.. New computer.. I get attatched to the computer and with mom, she just connected to the outlet and kept going.. No more computing on the go though.  That isn't a problem.. So now we are looking for a new one for her because of an issue with the computer seeming to be smoking, a no no in our house and in this instance it is a meltdown issue.. I have to admit it did smell like melting motherboard.. I've worked with electronics and heating solder to put things together, that's the odor you get, not pleasant but tolerable.. It has taken her a few days to get used to trusting the computer again, but she is back to facebooking again..

So I start the process of finding the new computer.. The chromebook keeps coming up in the search.. the questions I have about it are many and the number of people that use one is extremely few.. How few??  My sister in law works at a fairly big company in the office (corporate) and she doesn't know anyone who has one.. The thing I like about it is the small hard drive at 16GB is way to small for anyone who does any regular internet things (downloading) but she never put a single kb of anything on her computer.. I used it and put a little music on there, had the i-tunes program on there and a few videos but after all was said and done and I went to run recovery to try to fix it, I found absolutely nothing she had put on there.. so  a small hard drive is perfect.. The one thing I don't like about her computer is the cursor is active as they are on all computers unless you deactivate it if that is even possible.. On a tablet it wouldn't be because there is no cursor, it's all touch screen.. that to me seems a lot easier to use, maybe I'm wrong.. But the drawback is the screen size.. She wants a 15 inch and that means a laptop computer..   The search continues..

Speaking of shopping sites (I wasn't but now I am), Said sister in law pointed me to a site called No More Rack...  That's good to hear, but every now and then it still happens most of the time I'm either wearing the wrong under wear or pants or the combination and get the twins right where it hurts the most..  That's a feeling I hate to have and really don't miss at all..

That place

The best thing about starting a computer over again is you get to start from square zero.. Square zero because it is a clean slate.. However that has it's drawbacks as well..  You get a computer that has Internet Explorer as it's primary and ONLY browser.. How long does it take someone who buys a new computer to download their browser of choice?? Well it's the first thing I've done for each of the computers I've ever used, and that includes the very first when I didn't know IE from diddlers remorse.. I grab FireFox and the reason is, it's the one I identify with.. I had Chrome for the longest time, I installed it as the main browser on my moms computer when it was new and also now with the recovery.. What doesn't get installed on a restart??  Well for me this doesn't..:
Crazy Machines.. I love to play the game and after I played it so much on the desktop I tried to put it on the laptop (notebook) and it is just harder to play on certain games.. It's a puzzle, and some of the parts are very hard to get exact on such a small screen.. That and there is no mouse, and it takes a mouse controller to adjust things..  My nephew has started "playing" this game recently.. I say play, he likes to watch the machines get built and run and that is interesting.. But figuring how to get to the objective is the most fun of this game.. It helps to be able to read which he isn't able to yet, but there are arrows that show the primary and end objective..  He plays it a little but he gets frustrated with the notebook version..  I do too, and so I rarely played it..

The fourth of July parade in Silverton.. circa 1909, yeah it's been going on that long..

Showing all the movies that were shot in little ol Silverton.. That would be fun I'm sure..

I had seen this place in town so many times, the photography place that is, but Lola's was a fun looking place as well.. Imagine the old days, way back when it was a business, and not a novelty..

On a dark deserted island

Is this the beginning of the end of PNOP blog??  I think it could be, but it isn't yet.. I won't end it until I get bored to nuts about it.. That might be tomorrow or it might be later.. I didn't load any videos so far this month.. I've got a truckload still to load up but just got tired of doing that part.. But it will be back eventually..  An apology for the YMB on the I.I. blog.. Some reason I knew that would be there like that.. I haven't checked any of these blogs with the YMB set.. until that day.. And so I deleted that entry and made  a BS story about making that the main blog after Phudge Nuts goes dark.. Why change PNOP when there aren't any hits on it??  Not many anyway and I would have to start from squat diddly...

An apology to anyone who has been reading this site and think that me calling the old/new medical center a "death center".. Truth hurts doesn't it.. Not that it is a true death center, hell they would likely screw that up as well..  I like a good joke like everyone else but when the new hospital comes on line they will have a spotlight on them for a short time and everyone will watch the great new medical plaza as if it is a miracle center.. That won't be the case though when you have Doctor Amanda "short and sassy" Shaw as the chief of staff the bar is already set pretty low.. Staff.. You're all good, tie your shoes and gargle and everything will be fine..

Post Script

I forgot a couple pictures from yesterdays entry..  first..:
From the ground breaking at the new death center..  I find this picture to be.....    ominous to the building venture to come.. SMRC or SRMC or eee IIII eeee  iiii oh  ... It all amounts to a continues joke that is the medical center.. How many hospitals are refered to as death centers in the rest of the state or even country??   Ours is more than likely not the first.. But the truth is it is a massive Quack center.. Very much so..

And from the Silverton paper.. The weather, as it was that week.. This is how things are there.. Sorry I didn't get the continued story "see WEATHER. Page 4"  because it wasn't there on page 4.. Or any other page for that matter, but it wasn't like it said see weather page 4 of this paper, it might be in next weeks.. They just roll a lot different there..
