That end of year entry

Well here it is another trip around the sun, another year older and maybe wiser.. So with this trip around the sun come a soon to be end of an era of sorts.. Next week, next weekend, will see the end of dvd shipments from Netflix.. As I said in an earlier entry that they (netflix) has been on probation since the number of discs that were broken had escalated from one per quarter year to one every other time getting them, in  a months time.. That's a fairly huge jump in percentage. But I had decided to end the dvd shipments by the end of the year back in October.  I checked how to go about ending them on Monday and it said I could end them then or wait until the 14th and have this weekend and next with the billing cycle started.. I thought Monday and yesterday going as far as deciding that if they didn't get the discs in return by today that I would cancel my dvd orders today.. But they got them today and so i will go with the final two weeks of discs.. Two reasons why they might not have gotten them on time.. First it's still the holiday, and residual mailing from gift cards and after the holiday sales might slow delivery.. Secondly there has been some snow and COLD weather recently so I figured there would be no way they would get the discs on time.. Guess again..  They got there on time so I will go with the final six.. My final movie from Netflix was Slautherhouse five.. Now it will be Three Days of the Condor.. Another oldie..

The three movies from this past week were
The Book Thief.. When I got the movie I thought it might be one to snooze through.. Turns out it was quite a good movie..

The next wasn't from this past weekend but rather the week before:

Reclaim was quite the good movie about a husband and wife trying to adopt a child by any means and.. Well that's when the fun begins..

And the "final" disc rental was slaughterhouse five..  Not at all the thriller you might think of with a name like slaughterhouse in it..  More psychological movie, and a really good story set in world war II..

movies to the holiday

So yesterday I showed my favorite holiday (Christmas) sound track (songs) and tv shows and that would include the Grinch (original tv show, not the remade movie)..  And Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, but of course the Charlie Brown Christmas show trumps them all..  So today I want to give my favorite movie..

Love Actually, my favorite "holiday" movie..  I've said the reason I really like this movie is it was one of the last movies my dad rented from a dvd rental place before he passed away and so the past two or three years I have made it a sort of tradition to watch the movie within a day or two of Christmas.. And that viewing was last night..

Another movie I tried last night as a way to just watch a Christmas movie of sorts was this one...:

Christmas Kiss.. And almost from the very beginning it felt like I had seen the movie before in some form.. Then as I was watching it hit me, although not exact to each scene, it is pretty close to this one:

That's right.. Working Girl..  If you have the chance to dial these two movies up and see if I'm right or if I'm full of it.. And watch Love Actually..  Enjoy your holiday.. Settle in for a long winters hibernation...

quater past monkey toe

I tried to replicate the events of about two weeks ago I think that's when it was.. From getting the sandwich although from Runza this time and not Arby's.. Using the ketchup that I made with that habenaro hot sauce very liberally but.. In this case i went in search of something to try to keep the after effect from happening, which what that was I get these what I call popcorn burps that predate a ... well.. a puke session and always has from as far back as my latter days in school.. I could always tell when I was going to be sick, when I burped I could taste what I describe as popcorn.. I went in search of a cure of sorts because the last time I got sick like that I was the worst I had ever been.. Not deadly, but plenty refundage as it were.. So I check a site that I think might give me an idea and that guy has his own podcast and he had gotten a question about a guy who said he had sulfur burps that smelled horrible.. Truth be told mine smell more like a fart than burp.. and his sounded like what I go through, he said he would feel horrible to the point of throwing up and that after that he would eventually feel better..  So when he described his dilemma I took notice and the doctor told him to try that Beano stuff.. So I got some of that and Friday I tried to avert the problem by taking two of the pills then eating the fries with a healthy dose of that ketchup.. The only problem with Fridays experiment was I only had that on the fries, I have the spicey Jack runza and so I didn't need the ketchup on the sandwich part and when we ate that the day I had the Arby's roast beef I put it on fairly heavy and mom had me eat a little bit of her sandwich so that was even more of the ketchup.. So I didn't have nearly the same amount, but it was worth the test.. I felt almost identical this past Friday night with my stomach churning a bit.. But Saturday it wasn't bad, And then Saturday night as I ate a hot pocket I thought well it wasn't a pot pie like that last time but I thought it might be close enough as I ate about the same exact time, a little later than I am used to.. But by the time I had tasted that burp the last time, this past Saturday night I didn't have the same thing happen.. Did the beano stuff work??  Sunday there was just the same normal feeling.. So did it work??  Hard to say. My next test on this will be to try more of that ketchup and see.. Or try to catch myself when that burp taste happens, see if I can catch it this time..

Odd

This might not make sense but.. I did entries on the Phudge Nuts site ahead of time, I mean I always have but recently I was only a week ahead, and that was nerve wracking to just be a week ahead because Monday was the day I had to have the next weeks done.. I would add three days so by Wednesday they had to be done but i only got caught twice with the Wednesday day thing being lapsed.. So I decided to get the rest of December done ahead of time, and then yesterday went through January, to the end of January.. Not to worry from the last two weeks on it's nothing but beach dreams in that they are bikini dreams.. And will be that for the first three months of 2015.. At he last week or so of March I will start doing the memes like the other months.. Fun pictures and memes and ... weird shit like that..

Last nights sleep session included either rerun dreams or newly dressed odd shit dreams..  How weird was that?? I can't interpret dreams thankfully but there are times that I wish I had an inkling of what that means.. It felt "ground hog day"-like, or at the very least a deja vu like.. I mean it was totally odd and off for me anyway.. Is it the holiday that is doing that?? I usually try to ignore that it is this time of year to quell disappointment.. Not so much disappointment in what I get as gifts, but hope that I can get something for everybody.. But this year.. This is different because even if I had all the money in the world I wouldn't have a clue what to get anyone.. Just like every year.. My nephew seems like he would be easy to buy for but he has gotten to the age where bigger (read more $$$) means better and that was most evident when for his birthday we got him a fire truck lego set and turned out he wanted the fire station..  That would be a hundred dollars, not a measly twenty.. And he knows the difference in price.. He was telling his grandma what he wanted and I would chime in you want that so it can sit in your room and not be played with??  He can blame that on his little brother now, but it was that way before he was born.. He has a nice collection of toys but can't really play with them anymore..  He would come to his grandmas house and tear out everything in the first few hours of being here, then as he was here this past summer more he would do that less to the point where he would pull something out and start playing with it.. That was so odd to see him actually play with his toys.. But in the past few weeks he has been too busy to be at his grandmas house.. I guess it's the season.. I know mom perks up when he is going to be here, hopefully he can be here over the holiday break.. Hope so..

What was the dream though??  The dream was a hodgepodge of dreams that seem like I saw this before, from the trek out south of a town that seemed like a movie.. The further west I went the more back country Louisiana it seemed.. i've never been in that part of the country and so it being that vivid was strange to me.. I thought sure as shit some doorknob backwoods bum was gonna come out and give me shit and sure enough there was a car broke down, they needed help and then that banjo started to strum.. This can't be good.. but because I had seen this I switched to another dream.. Not as vivid but still strange.. I gotta wake up..  And so I did.. But it seemed to leave a porthole open and I still feel like I did when I was asleep.. What is this weird shit dream about and why do I feel like we just lost our favorite pet??   Odd..

Does the song remain the same..

When I hear a song that sounds a little like another song I tend to take notice... Today I do an entry about two songs that have a somewhat the same hook but aren't related completely at all.. Check it out. First we have... The Who.. "

Baba O'riley with that trademark VCS3 start to it.. There can be no other song that sounds like it.. But there is.. Sort of..

I use the wording "sort of" to describe it.. This is the Art Of Noise with a quick track called Snapshot.. Yeah maybe  this is a stretch but here is where the song sounds the most alike..

The VCS3 section at the start as described earlier...

The opening part of Snapshot also known as the VCS3 keyboard part and there isn't a VCS3 here because they don't make them anymore and digging one out of the hands of the groups that used them isn't very easy way to go about the effects where any one of several hundred keyboards made now can cause the function those old  dinosaurs could do back in the day...

The next two songs.. First off Swear Your Love by Kenny Loggins

Really a great song from what I thought was his last best albums.. He had issues after this but still was good at writing songs.. Lots of soundtrack songs such as Danger Zone..

The Answer with Tonight.. Alright these two are so unrelated in that Kenny Loggins is from her in the great old U S of A  and The Answer is from Ireland..  So what parts of these songs sound related??  Check it out.. From Mr. Loggins song..:
Actually both songs it is the chorus part of the song..   Different keys of course..
Basically the same rhythm on the guitar, and over all rhythm as well..

Call me odd but they sounded oddly  familiar..  A bit..  Anyway.. You be the judge..

Dads train

When we had my dad's head stone with the picture of an old steam engine train there was a reason for that..  He loved the old trains, the steam engine driven trains mostly because of his hometown had a train like that when he grew up.. And as it turns out they still have that same train on the very same line from those days.. Fast forward to some twenty years ago, I think, he wanted a train like that for Christmas and I think either he bought it for himself or mom did buy one for him, at any rate he got one, and I think it was only put together once, that Christmas morning.. And ran that day off and on all day.. I missed that train and through the years we just never put it up again either because of the dog, or.. Whatever the reason.. Well a few years ago I brought it up from storage and mom said no, but we did try the Santa slope thing and it was fun to see it work but ultimately it was taken down because of the space it took.. This year we put that train up.. And the video above is it winding it's way around the Christmas tree...  Merry Christmas Dad..  This ones for you..

Does the song remain the same

As I have always wanted to do this is a comparison between the same song.. One the studio version and the other live.. Does the song remain the same?  You be the judge.. First off the studio version of the song, and in this case it is the massively powerful yet under looked Shine On You Crazy Diamond from the Wish You Were Here album..
Why the last part of this opus?? Well I really do like this song, the entire album is a materpiece beyond belief.. I liked dark side of the moon, who doesn't.. But the entire album Wish You Were Here is a testament to the will of a band that got what they had wanted through all those years of trial and tribulations.. Fame beyond all belief, super stardom and yet they wanted to remain anonymous, to stay unrecognizable when they stepped out on stage, even to the point where they could be amongst the crowd and then step literally on the stage and start to play.. This part, part nine,  or part ix as it is listed on the album, is the winding down part.. Part i-v is the crank it up parts.. Part nine is the wind down, the slow down to where if you looped the album, it would wind down into wind up and perpetual play, over and over into infinity..  The same thing was accomplished on Dark Side of the Moon as well as The Wall..

Where the live version, is it the same song?? Yes quite but live is even more powerful in it's wind down, with the dual guitars of David Gilmour and Snowy White.. So much power and grace on a quick four minute version of Shine On You Crazy Diamond part ix..  So impressed with the live version of the entire album of Wish You Were Here, a bootleg but still worth having.. Very few groups can pull off playing an entire album from start to finish, but the Floyd could do it and did from the Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall.. Four of the greatest albums to ever be released.. In a feat that was never accomplished before and will likely never happen again..

Lost then found

Close call on the other blog as I came withing a day of not having an entry there.. This going from week to week is tricky.. But I try to go Monday to Monday on the entries but this week I knew last week I had ten days ahead.. So I knew I could wait until yesterday to do entries.. I'm gonna spend next Monday doing the rest of December and then get through spring because I have so many pictures of women in swimsuits from last years (this years) swimsuit editions of Sports Illustrated.. I have so many pictures to choose from that I could easily do the next three years exclusively with just hose pictures and still have enough left over to do five more.. YEARS..   sick I know..

I am trying t complete the Pink Floyd box set of fan supported bootleg material.. Some of that includes yet another mashup like the Dark Side of A Dream that was done back in 2003..  I found it and was stunned.. The latest was done when Syd Barrett died and it is called Passage.. Along with the video Truth and Dillusion from the curios collages a nice set of music and videos to add to the set.. Also it will include as many bootlegs that I have had but want them to be less repeats.. Some can be repeated verbatim  and the only thing changed might be the fade in part as well as the art.. How you might call someone out on this is beyond me.. If I tried that I would be caught and told about..

Trying to set the bootleg concerts that I have.. Up to June I was getting boots on a regular basis but then my site went toes up.. Then in August they were going again and I got  a shit ton of concerts again..  Some of which are really impressive.. But there are a ton, and so now.. I've gotta unclog the hard drive of the computer..

The saga that was getting a tablet for my mom.. Truth is I might could have gone the easy route and tld her.. Back in June mom had an issue with the laptop computer as when I came down stairs she was all but freaking out.. The computer was smoking.. Why was it smoking, we don't allow that stupid behaviour from anyone visiting and this computer was smoking??  what gives??  So I look at it and it is toast.. Burned up completely.. Well that's what she was hoping was the case and so I went along with her on this.. Next day I start the search for a new computer.. I see these Chrome books, and start to seriously look at them.  Asking around I found absolutely NO one uses them here.. Why?? Are they backwards or something??  So I search for a few days and find this little RCA laptop.. Not really a laptop but more of a tablet.. But it looked like a laptop, with the detachable keyboard.. Really cool looking and the reviews were good and the price was good too.. But then in the meantime of me looking for a replacement computer I dick with her old laptop and get it to work again.. Don't ask me how, I'm not computer savvy at all but I do tinker with electronics and have since I can remember.. And I got it to work.. The thinking for me on this was lets see how long it will work.. Well it still is working but it has issues and mm got frustrated with it enough so that a few times she was about to toss it across the room.. So this past Sunday she threw in the towel.. She gave up on it.. I worked on it a little but she has given up on it..

The Monday (cyber Monday) happened and I get these emails from Amazon and Walmart and everywhere that is supporting cyber Monday sales.. And I ignore them.. Then I check Amazon.. Wow they have a lot of stuff but the sales don't impress me.. So I toss those.. Then about five in the early evening I chance the walmart email.. Just hours left on the sale.. I open it and then think well what about a computer for mom.. I check and there is that RCA tablet and the price is half what it was.. Seriously, WOW... And so I check the reviews on it and they remain upbeat on this thing.. I thought for about an hour, since I already did the research I knew it was a good thing to get.. So I go to get it in the checkout and then as I'm about to push the order link I stop.. Why get his??  Mom sounded adamant about being done with the computer..

Then after another half an hour, after supper, I went back to the walmart.com site and continued with the order and went to site to store.. I've done this q few times with things over the years, and this was no different.. But then the options were different this time.. I was wanting to get this without her knowing it.. The previous years I would order something from a dot com site it was with a credit card.. Guess what you're getting for Christmas this year??  Yep, check you credit card bill..  This year I wanted it to be a complete surprise and so they have the options listed and cash was one of them.. Cash??  What's this then??  Well turns out if you want to pay cash you can BUT.. There's a catch.. You have 48 hours to pay at the store or you lose the option and in the case of this tablet computer thing the next day the price was still on sale but it wasn't as good of a deal at 119 greenbacks compared with the $89.. So you can see that back in June the price was 139 dollars.. Quite a change in price there..  So I choose the option of cash and everything fell into place..  I get to Walmart .. the next day (after calling my niece to find out the way I thought was the right way).. And then the saga began..

And what a saga  it truly was.. I arrived and had to take a prescription to the pharmacy so.. I then make my way back to the site to store.. The best part of this is there was someone back there otherwise it could have taken longer, I swear I am invisible when I am back there most times.. But there was already another customer there.. She was picking something up.. The best part about Walmart is being able to do the site to store or even getting to pick up your order out there which might seem strange to say (well why not have the order sent to your door??  They don't hardly do that anymore, it usually goes to the post office which was great before they gut the times the office is open from 8 in the morning to four in the evening to 8 in the morning to noon.. Get there or bee screwed..)  So after the lady got her xbox games I was up next.. I tell them I'm there to pay for the site to store order I placed the night before and the lady looked at me like I was wanting her first born..  As she fumbles with the book of procedures on how to do this she calls her superior and anyone that stopped by gave their two cents on how it might be done.. There was no cure for the ailment.. Then the saving grace happened, another person, a woman, needed to do a site to store but not the regular way.. She had pushed cash option as well.. Only thing is she had the printout.. I only had the number copied by my pen.. She had the page from there and on that page it said take this to any register to complete the transaction.. So they go out to a cash register to try their luck and low and behold they figured it out.. The customer that had the printout apologized for cutting in front of me and I told her there was no problem there, she had the golden ticket to figure it out, I was greatful she showed up..  I thanked her.. Anyway long story long we got it figured out but I was glad I was there alone.. Keeping this a secret was almost not an option as I was thinking that I might have to abandon the idea, and go and tell mom i tried to do this as a secret but.. Oh well.  Now I have to hope she doesn't get a wild hair and want a new computer before Christmas.. Then I would have to tell her just woahh hold on there little missy.. Maybe Santa is bringing you one..

That's new..

So I got the new Pink Floyd album this past Friday..  My overall reasoning for waiting two weeks beyond it's initial release date was simple, I wanted to see what people were saying about it before i bought it, not that that swayed weather I would buy it.. I was going to buy it, I knew I would no matter what anyone said good or bad and there were plenty of both reviews in Amazon and anywhere else the album was sold, ranging from "there are no vocals" to speak of to it's a brilliant masterpiece.. I could have listened to the entire album on YouTube but chose not to.. I could have gotten it via pirated download from any one of hundreds of sites but.. Again I chose to have a hard copy rather than get it in mp3 file format.. The booklet was not that important but it was.. The sound of the album did have a lot of the Division Bell sound running through it, both the keyboards and guitar parts were that way.. I had said when they were remixing for the release of the Division Bell that I thought they should put the extras tracks on there, you know, the tracks started for the follow up to Division Bell. Little did I know that as i was writing those very words they were working on their final album, and i had heard the rumours that people had seen David Gilmour in the studio working on songs that they assumed would be for his next solo album but were in fact being worked for what is being called the true final Pink Floyd album.. I almost said record and it would apply here because this was released in vinyl as well as several digital forms..   So which did I end up getting??  The record form is a double album, but getting it in record would be counter intuitive.. I would like to get it in record but.. I went to Walmart to see if they had it there.. They did, but it was a strange feeling that at the price it was marked it seemed high.. But it wasn't but I knew the deluxe version was the one to get and walmart didn't have it.. I ordered the deluxe version 2 disc set compact disc with digital video disc (cd+dvd)  which the dvd has the album in three audio formats, PCM, Dolby Digital and the best you can get DTS..  Blur ray has a higher standard but you can't tell it, very few people can tell the difference..

The back side of the box, as you can see side one through four.. The dvd with the extra cuts and the videos ...  very good indeed.. And listen to it more than once before you make up your mind. Good album or not it really is worth the listen.. My favorite song right now is Nervana which wasn't on the album proper but was on the video portion of the dvd extras..  Evrika is very good as well and the over all sound made me want to listen to Division Bell again.. Is this the end of Pink Floyd??  Who knows..

Badge Henry

(P.S. There is an area of the album where it reminds me a little of Tangerine Dream.. A very small area, and since it is all mostly vocal free it could all remind me of Tangerine Dream, but it doesn't.. There is just a short passage in the first part or side one as it is listed.. Somewhere in that area, however having said that upon future listenings I might not hear that.. And that is usually the way that it is for me, I can pick out parts of what I hear upon the first listening but after that I might not hear it again.. It's why i like to listen over time.. )

Game me

Well I broke down this past ..  recently and started playing a game on Facebook.. The game is called Scrabble.. What a stretch, I KNOW .. But I saw that someone else was playing it and so I thought I'd give it a try.. Started the game the other day and my thinking was I'd start playing and it would be like playing the game that is loaded on the computer.. i decided not to play in speed mode and the "guy" I'm playing started by playing a huge scoring word  "AT"... That has been my largest deficit, four points.. I have lead by as many as seventy points.. I know that even that lead can disappear quickly but this game is like the chess by mail (email) version that I used to play on another site.. I would have several chess matches going at the same time and should be doing that here with the Scrabble game I have.. Right now being ahead isn't the hard part, being patient is.. Going from playing a turn every twenty seconds or fewer to taking a day per move..BOREDOM  hits..

My nephew is a video game nut now.. He likes playing games on his moms facebook account so it might look like she has started playing those "highly addictive" games.. She hasn't..

The past few days my Scrabble games have seen me win by two, lose by seven and also have a demoralizing loss by a hundred points. Most people would quit after going down by a large number but I have both had big deficit comebacks and also large leads turn to fairly substantial losses.. It just goes to show that even when you start very well that when the letters stop dropping your way you can lose.. I'm good at Scrabble but anyone can beat me on any given day..

Mom wants to see if her grandson can play other games and I do to.. Games like Sorry and Monopoly were common place for me and my older brother and friends to be playing by the time we were his age.. Monopoly wasn't played as successfully as Sorry was.. Then there's Jenga.. I love that game, so simple and yet complex.. and then there is those Avalon Hill games.. A lot of train games with the Monopoly idea behind them, and thinking it might be junior high before he could play those games, some are complex while others are time consuming which seems to be fine when he likes to take the time to play.. Most of the time he gets a game set up, and by the time it is set up he's ready to play another game.. That's the best part of Jenga, it takes no time to set up at all..  I am a gamer from way back and it's the thing we used to do on holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas.. And Easter and 4th of July although less board and more yard games variety.. During the summer holidays.. I got my little brother one of those rod controlled hockey games.. That was a lot of fun.. I was gonna get it for my older brother but I wanted to play it regularly so I got it for my little brother, and we played it a lot.. Electric football only sounds fun, but after a few minutes of aggravation it gets old fast.. Getting the settings to be perfect for the game to play right is hard to do and we were maybe just a bit too young to figure it out.. I never got into darts, although a friend of mine did have a art board he was more dangerous than anyone with anything like darts.. Get outta the way.. But ever since getting on the computer I like playing Scrabble.. Pretty much my favorite game to play...

Not much

Something happened yesterday that got me thinking.. Mom had a test run at the doctors office and it was a test that took some four hours to complete.. We had to be there for the first half hour (It was supposed to be an hour but you know how they do things at that hospital.. Different, that's right) anyway she gets the first test (hearing test) after drinking the solution, at about ten and we get ready to leave and see that my little brother was there and so instead of leaving mom wants to stay and talk with him instead and that was fine.. After that it was close to eleven when the second test was done.. After the second test was done we went to the other part of the doctors office to contact moms doctors dipshit nurse to get her to get the prescription thing set.. As I walk over to a chair to sit down I sit and it feels like the cushion was giving way.. It stopped and I looked at mom and said "there's a dip in this chair..."  she just nodded ...  And I instantly thought of dad, he would have jumped all over that one.. Dad might not have seemed like he was a witty person, but in fact he was.. He would have jumped all over that opening.. "Yep, there is a dip in that chair, there sure is..."  He would make me laugh, because he could do such a thing like that, take an opening like that and drive it over the fence in center field.. HOME RUN...  I really miss him..

Screw you guys I'm going home

The fun with Netflix continues.. From the past few movies being.. not working right, to todays retrieval of the replacement disc for the movie from last week that was cracked.. Todays disc was worse.. Check this out..
I have never had a disc from Netflix in the bad of shape..  four linear cracks, one that goes through the length of the disc..  The other three are partial, all of these in their varying sizes is enough to keep the disc from playing.. The only crack in a disc that might still play is if the crack only goes within a millimeter from the outer edge.. Any longer and forget about it.. And only it will play if it is a very short program such as ten to thirty minutes.. Get your story told quickly..  Anyway I can't believe two discs in a row have had this happen.. The next three are probationary discs.. If there's even the slightest shitbegone that doesn't allow the disc to play .. I'm outta here a month early..

Badge Henry

(P.S.  It's hard to believe how fast things with Netflix have gone south so quickly.. Three discs in two weeks, two delivery sessions.. And the first being  a disc that would not play  no matter what I did to the disc.. I have a disc repair kit and usually that will do the trick, but after trying that stuff it just wasn't working.. Usually I can see the issue with the disc in plain light but even with a magnifying glass I couldn't spot the reason the disc wouldn't play.. So it's my player then??  I tried one of my discs and it played perfectly.. So we are down to this week only.. They are on probation, if they don't get the discs when they normally do, if delivery now takes a week then I will close it down.. If they get the discs on time and I get them back and there is a problem with playback.. Netflix disc delivery will end.. I already have deleted from my queue over a hundred titles and will take it down to fifty by the end of this week if there is an issue with playback, if the discs aren't crappy.. Like I said I doubt that it is on the netflix side but rather the mail service which is now going downhill quick since our post office is half a day now.. Can't make the post office workers very happy and accidentally breaking  a disc.. Hey that shit happens.. Well maybe it's time to eliminate our post office all together.. )

(P.P.S.  This is exactly the reason why I almost got out of Netflix:

Replacement Shipment (Reported damaged on 11/17/14) 11/14/14 11/19/14
I've stopped rating the discs, this probationary period is just that, it will end either this weekend or the end of the year, and why i didn't get out after this past round of aggravation is beyond me.. I can only explain it this way, I think i want to see if I can get  a triple set (a single weekends delivery) without a problem but make no mistake that if they don't get here unscathed the plug will be pulled, and I am ready for it and was as early as this past September.. It was nice while it lasted but I'm ready for it to be done..)

cats cats and more cats

This is for all the people who think that people like me that like colder  weather think that when the temperature dips below zero that I am in my element.. I'm NOT.. I don't mind when the temperature dips below zero as long as there is absolutely NO wind.. Zero and colder feels the same with no wind and I am able to be without a coat, and have no problem.. But when it is that cold and there is a wind my tolerance is zero just like any normal person.. My idea of cooler weather is around forty.. My range of perfect colder weather is between 30 and around fifty.. My ultimate living range is 40 to 75, with 90 degrees tolerated for harvest.. But to me anything above 95 to anything over the triple digit is as untolerable as the zero range in winter.. In the summer you can't take off enough clothes to cool off and in the winter you can't wear enough to warm up..  Especially if the wind is blowing...

On another subject... :  I've never had a problem with how Netflix does their dvd rental division of the overall company.. Until now.. The past month of rentals have been snoozefest movies and hey, that's my problem, if the material is boring to watch that is on me.. But the most recent movies (three at a time plan) I got a movie that simply wouldn't play no matter what player I tried it on.. So what was wrong??  It was cracked??  Nope, no  crack.. No scratch, virtually no issue with the playing surface that I could see.. When I get the discs I open them and turn them over and see what shape they are in.. Scratches, yes they all have scratches in them, there hasn't been a single disc that didn't have a few thousand scratches in  them.. A few thousand??  Maybe that is a bit high of a number but in all honesty they all seem to have those minute scratches as most discs will get when sent in the mail.. I then went on the Netflix site and reported the disc wouldn't play, so that following Monday the three discs were sent back at the same time including the disc that wouldn't play, all get sent in the outside box.. Usually I would put them in the inside box but because we now have morning only mail service, the outside box guarantees the mail goes out in the evening pickup.. So they take until Wednesday normally to get there (by there I mean one of three sites either Omaha, Kansas City or Des moines all three get there at about the same time) but on this week it would be longer.. I figure no big deal with the mail service being what it is becoming.. So I get the replacement disc and play it that night (Wednesday night last week) and it stutters and sticks and I check it and it looks as good as the copy that didn't play.. Is my player going bad??  I try one of my discs and it plays fine.. The disc is the problem.. What is the issues.. You don't need a microscope to see what the problem is with the discs.. Actually if you were to look at a dvd with a microscope you would wonder how they play at all with all those nasty ass scratches in it.. I have a repair kit for when the discs have problems playing with nasty scratches in them.. This wasn't one and the disc  sticks then plays and sticks and plays and the hour and a half disc gets done playing in two hours.. I get the gist of the story, very predictable and seems like I've seen it before.. Kind of a chick flick thing.. Sorry, but it looked good in the previews. I get the disc sent in on Thursday and by Friday morning the discs I sent on Monday STILL weren't there.. Where are they??  Lost in Kearney???  So I get on my high horse and get on the 'flix site and report all three as missing.. They get them on Monday, and send out three movies and I get the Wednesday although they say they will get in on Thursday (yesterday) and, I open the discs and the first two are fine and the third I thought I could see a crack before turning the disc around and sure enough, there's a crack from the center to the outer ring.. This won't play on mine or anyone else dvd plaayer, it is shit.. So I get on the computer to report the disc has a bit of a flaw and their reporting of problems won't accept a complaint because they show I still haven't gotten it yet.. Truth is I guess they are trying to keep this type of thing from happening.. They should get the damaged disc back before sending a replacement but in the mean time you have nothing to watch.. I have been thinking about ditching Netflix discs service for a while now but this last runaround has just about ended it for me.. I think the end of the year will be the end of the disc service.. They want to end it anyway and throttling my deliveries just about will end it for me..

Not what I thought

It's nice.. Fun... And how many people looked at this blog over the past three days.. If you continue to look at this site like you have here's a BIG  THANK YOU  for the stat boost.. I've never had that many views here on this or ANY blog I have ever had..  Not in a short span like that.. Hard to believe that that many can change the way I think of writing a blog..  How many looked at this blog??  In a short few hours I had over 166 views.. Which might sound small but when you figure I had five to seven in a weeks period, 166 in a few hours time is huge.. Which begs the question is it real??  Are those numbers real or a figment of the blogger numbers counter.. And where were all these views from??  Well the answer to that question is Europe..  Where in Europe?? France to be exact.. Strange how that can be the case and also it wasn't a latest entry, but rather a single entry..:
De pagina die je in dit blog zoekt, bestaat helaas niet.    Which when translated simply means the entry you are trying to look at is no longer available or something to that nature..  Simply put, I would do an entry and then either decide after having it go live to either schedule it at a different time or to revert to draft for a possible reschedule or to revert to draft with the idea or writing it by adding/subtracting or it gets full on deleted which rarely happens but has.. I have several drafts I am working on now that will either be completed or deleted before too long..

The barn is back.. Baby the barn is back and it is better than ever.. After it was made to be dropped by Blogger, they moved to Zetaboards and are more of a forum than  a blog which suits them better I think.. They were told that some of the music they had on site was not bootleg but instead quite NOT bootleg.. And so they got the old cease and desist letter (who hasn't gotten one of those??)  Even I have gotten one of those..  And so rather than chance it the shut down.. This was back in .. May I think.. And I thought there wouldn't be another site that was as good as that site.. Then I was looking at one of the other sites that has this kind of music and there was a link to the barn.. Known better as Hear Rock City.. Some of the best bootlegs to ever be gotten are there..

Speaking of bootleg material, when a group releases a new recording it tends to get the bootlegs to be released again.. In this case  the new Pink Floyd record The Endless River being released yesterday should get the bootlegs flowing again.. I want to see what there is, because I got the bootlegs Have You Got It Yet and Games For May each are fan compilations with Games for may being a four disc set and Have you got it yet being a seven disc set..  Yeah they are big but Pink Floyd has a huge fan following..  Of all things I still don't have the endless river yet..  I was gonna preorder it from Barnes and Noble but didn't yet.. Might get it ordered by the weekend.. I think it will be a great album but you have to remember it is the album they were supposed to put out after Division Bell.. I kept waiting for them to get it out by the first part of 2000 but it was not to be.. And I think when they were getting ready to reissue the Division Bell that they came across those recordings and finally decided to do something with them.. I knew they had them, because I was (am) a huge Floyd fan and read about everything there was to read about them over the years.. I knew they had all this and they still have material that may never see the light of day in the original recordings for the Meddle album that was originally the household objects recordings..  Using glasses of water, rubber bands stretched to make music.. All sorts of interesting things but it was abandonded to start the album Meddle instead.. Also the original Momentary Lapse of Reason album would be interesting to hear.. Remember the original album was submitted to the record company and they refused it because it didn't sound like Pink Floyd enough... Go figure... So when you hear them saying there isn't anything else in the vaults, trust me.. THERE IS.. It just might not be up to their standard.. I say box it and call it Not Up To Our Standard.. People will buy it..

Badge Henry

(P.S. An apology to those who read this bit about the bootleg material released about the Floyd.. I was trying to go from memory about what I have and everything.. Yesterday I checked the Crazy Diamond box set that was released with the Syd Barrett music, that's where I keep the bootleg releases of Pink Floyd and here is the actual names of the sets and number of discs.. Have You Got It Yet is a four disc set, four DVD disc set so in actual compact disc that would come out to sixteen  or there about, and included in this set are rare videos, music and picture and programs from a good number of tours.. Dolls Dark House single compact disc with music from before the floyd lineup with Syd and Bob Klose... An un-named disc with early Syd performances with the never before released Scream Thy Last Scream included..  And of course the Games For May set is only a four compact disc set..  The Have You Got It Yet set I added a few little nuggets to, including the Darkside remix released back in 2001..  Dark side of the dark side.. A remix that really puts it to you, and hour long mix of clips of songs which includes a Australian PF version of Comfortably Numb... )

There once was a time

Let me tell you about someone.. Someone extremely special..  This guy was a great guy, and back when I was a little boy, I called him dad... And he was as great as dads go.. He seemed very intimidating as I was growing up. How was he intimidating??  Well for one thing he was HUGE.. He was taller than me by a good four to ten feet... And was just  a giant.. As I got older he got shorter of course but he just was this big, larger than life guy..

(In this picture is me  in between my older brother and my dad, the scoutmaster.)
My dad was a teacher at the school I went to as well as my older brother and little brother... and for me, I was in a class that found out by way of their parents that my dad was a teacher, and so I was the outcast because of this fact.. But in the early days I didn't notice all the BS that I was having to deal with on  a daily basis of being in that class.. I had said if I would have been in the class ahead or behind me I wonder how things would have turned out..  My dad was the constant in the family.

In the picture above we have my dad giving me a talking to, more than likely  because, well you see those little boxes there on the table?? Those are matchbox cars boxes.. And they each would have a truck or car that my older brother got for his birthday and I really liked them as well and more than likely thought they should be mine instead.. And so I'm sure my dad was giving me the talk about sharing.  Ah that dirty word no kid wants to hear, SHARING...  Dad was one person at school and quite another at home.. The intimidating posture he had made me be a little afraid of him, which isn't a bad thing.. He never spanked us, or hit us in any way..  My parents both supported my efforts probably beyond what was in reality real.. I would start to play the drums at an early age, I remember getting a drum for Christmas when I was maybe in school, but possibly I was younger than that.. And I would continue to play the drum, and drums through until I burned out in nineteen ninety... Sadly I haven't felt like playing since.. But they supported me by buying me my first drumset and then through the days of me being in a band.. My dad was quite the different person from school where he might raise his voice on a regular basis in his class.. Then be home and be quiet, a quieter man..

Dad liked being around the kids at school, in the fall the promise of a new school year energized him.. He was the principal of the grade school before I was in junior high and then a few years before he retired he was the principal of the entire school taking on the high school as well.. Hanging up his teaching completely... He taught business and typing, and really I hate to say that typing was mandatory when I was in school and I could not type to save my life.. I remember him coming over to my desk one day and say why can't you type, you can play the drums like no one else can?? My explanation:  I..  um..  I don't know.. I mean moving four body parts is way  ...  WAY easier than getting ten to move where you want them to, and typing has no rhythm at all, playing the drums is like so much easier.. I was a charity case.. I think he passed me because he felt sorry for me.. His only true loser of a son, I think he sensed I would amount to very little unless I had a lot of help..

My dad with his first and as it turns out only wife...  How many do that these days, get married and stay that way.. I think most people think of marriage as one of those I'll give it a try and if it doesn't work out we'll split, no harm no foul..   They might not have been perfect, but they got along extremely well...

Yep, dad put shaving cream on our faces.. and shortly after this picture was taken, my brother decided I needed a shave and did exactly that.. Kinda nicked me a bit..

Dad in grandpa mode with Tabitha snoozing.. I think dad liked this time the most.. He could put her to sleep and she returned the favor by getting him to snooze too..  They were the perfect partners in sleep..

When it came time to get the headstone for my dads grave site I had so many ideas go through my mind as to what the design should be.. But I had really no one true idea.. When a guy approached us to get one done, I didn't have a clue then either.. I didn't know when one needed to be done.. Should it be done and placed before the one  year anniversary when he passed.. The train from his hometown  design was decided upon eventually and it took several design attempts before we agreed upon what was done.. Still it wasn't the exact design we were hoping for but for whatever the reason and maybe I felt like we needed to get it done relatively quickly.. Maybe it was rushed, but also the guy in charge seemed like he was pushing to sign off on it and get it done.. I liked the design, the layout.. The thing is dad never talked about anything like this and really I don't know how many people like to talk about it..  So hopefully we did alright by him..

BUSTED (sort of)

I was checking my Gmail account earlier and.. WOW I have a lot of videos blocked.. Blocked and deleted.. Shows like Cracked were deleted.. But you know if they would have told me to stop two years ago I wouldn't have uploaded all those videos.. Busted yes but they didn't shut that channel down completely which they could have done.. That's ok, I didn't gain monetarily from those videos, and I didn't want to get any money, it wasn't my shows.. So from having a half a million views to a measly hundred... I was nearly cocky about the fact that I had so many views.. Oh well.. The thinking is all the family videos will be uploaded back there instead of the second site then delete the second site..   The main site will remain to be the stutch13 site.. The other will be shut down.. Unless they shut this site down then it will have to be the alternate site..

Badge Henry

(P.S. When I think of all the time it took to upload all those videos, yeah, I'm a bit pissed off but at the same time like I said, they could have pulled my channel down and said tough shit.. I'm ok with it still being on at least for the videos that I still have (mostly family videos) and most of those videos were uploaded before I learned how to edit with windows movie editing program.. Had I been able to edit the videos from before I might only have around a hundred videos rather than all these that I have.. Maybe someday I'll try to get all the videos together and edit them and make one video.. The relative videos.. That would be like the trip to Moab be a single video rather than however the shit many there are.. )

Q TO THE J TO THE V TO THE C

Well I've started playing my favorite game again recently, Scrabble.. Or more to the point computer scrabble and have been playing in the veteran level which isn't a really high level, but is enough of a challenge at the same time.. Letters are very important as with scrabble being a crossword game if you don't like letters, you're playing the wrong game.. But what I mean by the letters being important is that if they come at the wrong time you can be screwed.. Say for  instance..

You get a tray with almost all I or you get the vowel full tray.. That's always fun.. I got I's up the yang and you not only can you not make any words to start the game, if you have either vowels only of consonants you are in the same boat either way.. Getting the Q early on is good for a good start, but the best time to get the Q is around the twenty tiles left mark, mostly because you can score better by then, but if you are the mindset that you can only use the Q if you have the U then you are stuck.. That isn't the only was to use the Q and after you learn this fact the better you will be.. I used to take chances with using the U just anytime, then if I got the Q later on I figured that would be ten points taken away from my final score.. NOT ANYMORE.. My least favorite tile to have towards the end of the game is the dreaded V.. In fact the V and C are my least favorite letters to have almost ever in the game.. Give me  a J or K before a C or V... ANYDAY..

So I was playing a game the other night.. On the computer version I set the game to be fifteen minutes in full length, and 45 seconds per turn.. 45 seconds might seem like a way too short of a time, but when you get used to it, it seems like an eternity.. unless you are used to trying words out because you don't know what will give the bigger score.. I did that in the early going in non timed games.. After I learned the board I started to play timed games, and I learned the board really fast and extremely well.. Like the other night I was playing and had the lead early when the computer scored fairly large point totals and I was down by 70 points.. I felt like this was it.. I would lose yet again.. I have this goal of scoring 20 points per turn to have any chance at winning against the computer.. And this night wasn't happening.. I was getting six and nine and really feeling like this game was out of my hands.. And then the miracle happened.. I got the Q... There is a god.. Ok by the time I got the Q there was nowhere to place it as the Q U combo.. There are games out there that have the QU as a single set letter thing (Boggle comes to mind) and that would screw me out of the ability to play the word that would get me from being down by 70, to getting back in the game.. A two letter word placing the Q on a triple letter score.. In this case the word was QI  Placing the Q on the triple letter (three times ten, and three times ten again, it was the perfect storm.. adding up to 62 points.. Suddenly I'm back in this one.. And everything kept going good for me, the bigger letters were in the right place on the board and after being down by 70, it came down to the last play, I literally had to place the tiles down, my final three.. I was down by ten, and I had all vowels and the way it came out I got my seven points, and I got the points from the letters left in the computers tray.. From down by ten to winning by three.. What an amazing game that one was... I had to play my remaining tiles because the computer might have been able to clear it's tray and won the way I did.. That has happened on more than one occasion.. Very rarely I clean my tray to win the game like that.. And I have only had a single game play that way to an exact tie...

From the never saw that before file

So the Apprentice U.K. show, clip from my last entry showed the never saw that before file as Robert got the boot before they left the room to debate at the losers cafe, to the next episode..

Same thing, different project. Sadly this was Lyndsey getting the boot.. She got on this show somehow, not sure how, and from the beginning of this season she has seemed to be out of her depth as they say.. Although she is quite nice looking, she was always just there.. As they say an empty chair... She reminds me of someone, just not sure who.. But again she was fired before the debate got going about who did, or didn't do what..

The following week would see something I've never seen before..  Alan was clearly upset at the both teams, and in this scene above after Steven got in a shouting match with the girls, he was let loose with a quick firing..  Ado Steven..

Not to be outdone Sarah was given the boot as well.. She of the "time keeper" on the next project, a video set to go viral.. Sadly these videos were fairly horrible attempts at fun.. Sarah thought she was safe, she was the winning project manager on the first task, but she found out quickly that that doesn't matter, you have to prove yourself as a team player every week..

Ella was a quick study in lose cannon,  she was the type of project manager that it was her way or else..

And in the end, the final scene usually has the two (or sometimes one) remaining person(s) return to the house to talk about the boardroom experience.. They normally are in conversation about who will be fired. This time they get no such event but rather a new thing happens.. I do think Alan is extremely tired of this years candidates and truth be told this might be the year of firsts across the board as this is the first year he had twenty candidates, multiple firings with this show being the first triple firing..

The video above is the actual video (shown in the show) that was on YouTube earlier.. The other was called Fat Daddy, a workout video to lose weight by.. Both videos bombed big time..

Badge Henry

(P.S.  I just thought I'd add that in the  episode where Lindsey got booted off that there was an instance where the camera caught her yawning.. That's a fairly bad thing to do in the middle of a task where she wasn't really working very hard.. Karen pointed this instance out where the girls were really not doing that much.. Karen and Nick are Alan's right hand persons that go out on these tasks and watch over them.. They don't do much in the way of mentoring or suggesting to them to try this or try that.. In the case of this season I don't know how they got these people to be in the contest, but I would say whoever was in charge of that are being looked at in a completely different light.. But in reality I never saw the ultimate winner in the past couple of these contests.. The one that won that I thought could was a guy who was in the final boardroom all but two times during that season.. So it really is hard to say who might win.. This season might be the one where no one wins..  That wouldn't surprise me in the least... )

Posted toastly

Tech talk... Goodie.. Well we got a little note from our ISP that they would be "working" on our internet over the coming first week of November... The fix is likely in as our internet speed is currently around the 5-7Mbps range although if I measure to Omaha on the JAG site it pinned out for a very split second, before going down to 25Mbps which I would take any day of the week.. If only that were true..   I know the FCC is about to impose that the NET Neutrality will be ended, and you will have to pay  a  lot to have even crappy internet service.. Roku and other streaming device users will be stuck with a very small and light weight version of a hockey puck...   Truth be told the only channel that works remotely good on it now is Netflix..  And I set he streaming on a lower setting otherwise it would buffer constantly, because at first in the open setting it would run fine then after a couple months it started to buffer, and at first I thought ok, it does get back to it fairly quickly, but after a while it was way too annoying and I checked to see if there was a way to get it to stop this annoying habit.. And I reset the streaming to a lower setting and it hasn't buffered like that on Netflix since then. And the quality is fine for me.. Wouldn't be that way for the 1080 sect but..

I watched the two weeks ago episode of the Apprentice UK and that was the one where Alan (lord Sugar) strongly urged Robert to take the lead as the project manager and during the decision stage of who would take the PM he shrugged it off...  Well this was the result... I had never seen this happen before...  The scene above is exactly what I thought would happen.. In fact the task was a crappy result that I was wondering if both teams failed to sell anything then who would have been determined the winner??  But I also felt the result could have been one person being fired from both teams.. Turned out the men lost AGAIN.. Hard to believe, but they all of them are dodging any responsibility to try to keep from being blamed on the failure of the task..   I can see Alan getting more and more agitated by this behaviour and I just get this feeling he is going to put a stop to it shortly.. He will mix the teams up a little in the next episode, some of the guys into the womens team and verse visa...

Oh for the reason.. ing

Things change when you get older.. Certainly things do change such as body functions.. As I hit the big 50 (eventually, I mean it hasn't happened yet but I can imagine...) when it does, and I hit that mark hard.. The first thing is the squeak that develops, the squeak that doesn't go away, even with oil, or a grease zirk added to that  body part that just doesn't move anymore, or seems to need added emphasis to move.. Such things are strange, none the stranger than back in 2001 when I dislocated my left elbow again, and it grew to the size of a watermelon.. It would go down to the size of a grapefruit and remains that size to this day.. But the thing is, is that I couldn't shave with my left hand anymore.. I can't reach my face with it, or I should say I can reach it, but it locks up.. And that's no fun.. But up until this past May I didn't even try to use my left arm to do any shaving.. And them miracle of miracles, I tried to shave a  portion of my face with my left hand and could.. It's that little section under my right ear that never gets shaved with regularity.. Everyone would say "you missed a spot shaving..."  and I'd say no shit hu???  I can't reach it...  Really, liar...  Ok, show me how it's done then... It took a supreme effort to shave that little landing strip there..  But that isn't the biggest thing I have noticed about getting older.. Trust me getting older SUCKS and I tell my nephews and nieces don't get older, stay the same size.. My nephew continues to ignore me as now walking under the freezer door on the fridge without bending over doesn't happen without thunking it..

My coordination seems to be going.. Part two isn't the nicest thing I've noticed but here it is anyway.. About a year ago I started to notice that while doing the "dirty deed" (taking a crap) I went to wipe the area (moon floss) and I've been wiping that particular area the same way for .. Forever, which is to say my right hand.. And then one day, or several days I started to notice.. "I can't reach it..."   I shit you not, the old reach around is not working anymore.. So what do you do in this case??  I went lefty on this. And off and on it's left hand wipe because I can't reach my ass with my right hand anymore.. How do you broach the subject with your doctor.. "Hey doc, I got this problem, I can't seem to get a grip on the ability to WIPE MY OWN ASS... At least not with my right hand"  "Well you got a  left hand don't you??  Give that a go.. That'll be a hundred bucks office call...  "... It really does SUCK  to get old...

Twilight mission

In a world where Netflix is available to stream via a streaming player, in my case the Roku, television viewing habits get skewered completely..  In my case I set up to run something like five shows, three in the primetime slots of 7:ish to 10:ish.. and I have three shows that fit in the three hours there but it is more of a three hour block where three plus shows fit.. If I start at seven straight up which rarely ever happens.. Most of the time I get into the roku at about seven, but usually that first little bit it spent checking for new channels (apps) in the channel store in the "new" tab..  And I add what looks like the more interesting channels that cross my taste.. Then I might take a quick look at them or I will click into Netflix and start watching my shows.. After watching Continuum, I decided not to watch another show on the same feeling and instead started Scandal, followed by the Fosters and then rounding out the nights viewing I started watching the Walking Dead season 4.. I already watched it by way of torrent last year, and after the siege at the prison episode that was the end of the first half of season 4 the second part starts out with the people that were at the prison scattered and trying to make it on their own.. These episodes were the ones where character development took place, as if they weren't developed before the second half of season four.. But it's interesting but also somewhat depressing.. But they get back together again, little by little until they reach Terminus and then the shit hits the fan.. Season 5 has started and I'm wondering how it unfolds.. I should start watching those by next week sometime.. The other shows that are on my block to be watched are One Tree Hill (a kiddie soap opera, who's sleeping with Brooke today (but I love Sophia Bush, so there's my reason for watching the child soap))  With Life Unexpected being the other show.. Where was that one from?? Well turns out it is on the CW which is a channel we don't get on our cable system, not that I would have watched it initially on network tv..  But getting to explore some shows on Netflix this way is the better way to watch shows anyway..  Hart of Dixie returns as the floater show, and gets watched once a week, usually Thursday nights... I don't binge watch on Netflix, there's just too much that interests me.. Farscape was the show I was going to watch but didn't because of my thinking it might be too close in likeness to Continuum...

Plans are to watch these shows through their final shows, some are done others will continue.. Then start shows like Burn Notice or Eureka or Warehouse 13 which are quite similar (Eureka and warehouse 13 are alike)  But the start of 2015 will see the show Friends being brought to Netflix.. I had heard rumors that Seinfeld was being brought to the 'flix but still no confirmation.. Some of that is on Crackle now..  Oh yes, Rehab Addict is a half hour (22 minutes actually) show that I watch just before switching to the i-tunes channels and listening to the Czabe as I drift off to sleep..  Another night of viewing and listening in the books..

After that and no more

So you know how I said that the 7th of November would be the last entry on PNOP blog?  Well earlier this month I decided to continue on beyond that date.. Then as I was thinking about it, I decided to reverse course and the final entry will be November 7th..  Of...  sometime.. Two years from now, three.. Not sure when it will end.. but the seventh of November will be the final entry.. Enjoy the madness..

My show of choice

Back again this year is the Apprentice UK.. The start of season ten was last week and they ran this special ten year anniversary show.. A best of the ten years.. What was better about the UK version than Trumps yark is that they now compete to go into business with the head guy.. Lord Alan Sugar, the guy is amazing to watch..   In the episode above the show has clips from the three seasons I got to see.. The two adult versions and  a kid version...  Check it out.. The best hour you will spend..

Maybe..

So what you said what

When you have a scanner, radio scanner, you tend to be both in the know and out of the loop simultaneously... In my case the scanner I have is the one everyone was getting just before the digital ones where the voices are scrambled.. That was disappointing to me as what I was after was to expand my listening by way of using this to listen to trunking communications.. Instead what I got were frequencies where the numbers can be programmed but they are transcribed to digital.. But.. I do get a fair amount of traffic what with the Union Pacific rail system that runs by the house (two blocks away from our back door) and the ambulance service as well.. (not by our back door)  I hear the calls and you know when there is an ambulance call that someones life has changed for the worse.. But when I hear calls and they can be non descriptive and sometimes they use  10-code and sometimes they just let it all hang out, bleeding from the anus or puking profusely.. And that is bad enough but now there could be a new set of fun to listen for.. Possible EBOLA victim...  Think about that one.. Will the ambulance service soon have to have a unit specially equipped to go on an ebola run??  Would that be the way to go??  When you see the BIG  ambulance and you know they are in there suiting up to go into someones house and not only do they have an ambulance on scene but they will have a lot of police cars and fire trucks and HAZMAT vehicles there.. Will that ever come to pass??   I hope not but just to think what direction this could go..  Something to think about..

Speaking of that subject, they have reported that that guy that went into the Dallas hospital emergency room might have waited in there for hours before they got to help him.. No shit, big surprise, if that were at our famed hospital he might still be in the emergency room waiting.. Yea he's been dead for a week, but he still waiting..  Hey doc I've got this thing on my nu..nose.. and... hey doc..

Hey doc..

hey doc..

HEY DOC..

Boo

..and then it's October again.. Don't get me wrong, this is my favorite month, for football and cooler weather.. Leaves changing.. The grass slowing down the growth.. colours and smells, enjoy the cooler days before we get stuck in the house for the winter.. Seems like I was just dreading the heat of summer in June and suddenly it is October once again.. Time flies.. I blame the little kids in the family, they can hardly wait to get older and that speeds the clocks up.. My nephew that used to be able to walk under the opened freezer door now gets thumped by it.. My nieces twins continue to grow up although I'm sure their mom thinks they aren't growing very fast at all.. THEY ARE.. Darned it.. And the youngest nephew who has gotten to the point where he can't take a bad picture.. Try as much as you can the little guy is just ...PERFECT..

So the other day (Friday) we went to the pizza place there in town, Sam and Louies and  as we are eating the wind is opening the door and my nephew says look.. I look and my mom says thats from the wind.. I of course have an alternative to why the door is seemingly opening on it's own... I say it's a poltergeist..  He looks at me as if in total "what's a poltergeist" look and I say it's a ghost.. He looked at his grandma like .. What, is that real??  I say yes because it is October.. Halloween ... DUH it's the spookiest month of the year.. Why would they put Halloween in October if it wasn't the scariest month of the year??   He then has to have his grandma settle him down a little.. I tell him i was just joking..  He should know by now I am full of shit.. The next day he and his grandma are in the spare bedroom and I start up the stairs and get to the hallway and then tip toe up to the door, just next to it and I hear him say was I up there or ???  what was going on, he was sure I hd come up and as he gets to the door way I BOOGEDY BOOO  him...  scared him a bit.. Awe.. you know I jusy gotta get him.. gotta do them all once in their lifes.  Did it to my Nieces and will likely do it to the little guy when  he gets older.. ..

hots on for hillbilly thursday..

The weekend that was ... the first weekend of October...  My nephew decortated a birthday cake with the frostin' and decortations and candels..  Candles enough to where when we got them all lit, we put a grill on and barbequed a bit..   Roasted a marshmallow ...

We took him back today and he takes his money that he won from his old settlers days games winnings and his tooth fairy money from the tooth he lost a week or so ago, and he went and bought himself a toy or two... He had seven buckeroos and was wanting something a little out of his price range.. He looked... and looked.. and looked...  He saw a big serious set of legos toy city thing and he has a lot of them already and he loves Legos, not because he plays with them, but just because.. Having them is most of the fun.. After he gets his toys we get close to his house and his grandma  asks him if he was hungry for something and he says he really likes subway.. Subway??  Really?? So he gets a pizza there and as he is eating it he gets to the last two pieces and slows way down and looks like he will be taking the rest home but all of a sudden he gets the next piece and starts to eat it and I said to him "I thought you might take the last piece to let his madre or padre or his little  brodre have some..  Oh well no sharing today... Thems the breaks..

How to Handle Tailgaters on the Road

From Wikihow : You may have learned the value of driving your car at speeds you can handle but how do you deal with a driver who offensively drives too close behind you? This article will give you some ways to practice simple, safe, and effective measures to get out of a potentially dangerous tailgating situation.

Remain calm! Losing your cool means losing control, and losing control of your vehicle is the last thing you want to do. Deep breaths are a big help. Focus on your situation, and not on the radio or passengers or cell phones, (which you might want to avoid using while driving, especially in a tense situation).

Consider your own judgement of what is too close. Drivers who are accustomed to driving in urban areas tend to be more comfortable driving closer to other cars that drivers from rural areas where traffic is generally less dense. It could be your judgement of the situation that is causing you stress rather than the reality of distance between cars and the other driver may not agree that they are tailgating. The important goal is to relief stress for both drivers since either driver is subject to "road rage" behavior based on their individual perception of the situation.

Always know your local driving laws. Tailgating is generally against the law, as is causing an accident by driving into someone's back bumper. While you don't want to be in an accident, the aggressive driver behind you will most likely be at fault if he or she drives into you. Chances are they know the outcome if they hit you, and will want to avoid doing so.

Pull over and allow the vehicle behind you to pass, if it is safe to do so. This is always the most rapid way of getting rid of a tailgater. If the car behind you is catching up, there's a good chance the driver wants to go faster. If it's safe to do so, let him/her.
  • On narrower roads, use turnouts to allow others to pass when it is safe to do so. In many places, it is required that slower traffic use turnouts. Elsewhere, it is simply polite.
  • On a winding road, do not speed up so drastically at passing lanes that others cannot pass. Many drivers go slowly and cautiously around curves and then get on a straightaway and feel that they have the space or visibility to dart ahead. Have the patience to let others past.
If at all possible, slow slightly and move away from the center of the road; allowing the tailgater to pass safely. Normally a tailgater just wants to drive faster, so they will pass and leave you alone. If you know people want to pass you, try to stay out of the high speed (passing) lane(s).

Maintain a constant speed. This allows the tailgating driver to predict when he can pass you. Avoid speeding up and slowing down to send him a message - this only increases his frustration level.
  • When in doubt, use your cruise control. This can help ensure that you remain at a constant speed of your choosing, and helps prevent accelerating when an agitating driver is trying to "push" you into speeding up. Plus, you are likely in a tense situation already. Using cruise control means you don't have to concentrate on your speed as much, so you can concentrate more on removing yourself from this situation.
Above all else, do not be a source of the problem. If you cannot switch lanes for any reason, various laws of physics are going to prevent the tailgater from driving through you. However, if you're matching speed with a vehicle beside you, perhaps you should consider slowing down and switching lanes. Defusing the dangerous situation is far more advantageous than bickering over the speed limit.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The reason for this entry is.. I was tailgated today, and I wanted to keep thinking it was my imagination.. The guy kept coming close then fading and did this over a fifteen mile span of the road.. Finally we got to our hometown and the guy pulls off just three streets before ours.. Did he know us??  I don;t know, what was he trying to pull??  Was he trying to freak me out.. I should mention something important here, but first.. My idea was to turn him in,  he was also hugging the white line and crossing it several times.. He would fade to about a hundred yards back and then crowd close to my rear bumper.. Then fade again and did this several times.. I could only think this idiot was testing my patience and trying to see what I might do.. I kept thinking what is with this dip shit... He can't be a legal driver, CAN HE??  By the way we have a celebration going on right now called Oktoberfest and so you might think he was an idiot early day drinker, and maybe he was but I have my doubts.. He lives in our town and I'm pretty sure I know where he lives..  By the way, when he turned he confirmed my suspicion, he was driving a state patrol car...

(P.S. By the way this was no joke piece, the same thing happened a year ago, only last year it was  late at night around one in the morning.. Last year this car pulled up behind me at about the same exact point on the road home and he very nearly was tailgating me again.. But in this case it took him about three miles before he decided to pull me over.. I bet he thought, I got a drunk.. Guess again asshole.. I'm slowly changing my mind about law enforcement...He last year was riding my bumper fairly close, then backed off as if he was about to pass then clicked on his cherries...  I came so close yesterday to pulling over to turn or just pulling over to talk to the officer and telling him tailgating is illegal in all fifty states, learn to drive.. What he was doing was illegal, either pass or back off and enjoy the ride.. I'm not in a big hurry, if you're trying to incite me to speed up and break the law you've got a long wait... I set the speed to 57mph, if you want to go faster PASS ME... And he could have there were plenty of open spaces large enough for a police car on a donut run to pass me.. )
