A look behind the scenes.. This past Friday night they had a episode of Gold Rush where they showed what the camera men and crew of the Discovery channel do to get that shot and be able to show everyone at home what these guys do to get the gold.. I really like these shows and is well on dvd movies that show the technical side of things, to show what they do to get certain shots on movies.. I try to incorporate some of the ideas I get from these shows and movies in my shots.. Lighting being the more interesting aspect of both video and photography.. Both front and back lighting as well as low angle (from the floor) to get rid of shadows.. This brings us to the latest movies I have gotten, the Roger Corman collection, a triple feature from the king of "b" movie (schlock to some) but I like watching his technique.. The movies from the early sixties that have horrendous special effects but are so interesting still to watch.. The lighting at times seems very low budget but when you figure he was making dozens of movies a year I guess this is what you get.. The shadows and just poor visibility on faces and it makes you wonder if this is what he was after or was that the way it was back then..
The latest video is up on the PNOP site, "travelog" with the song Flashflood by Tangerine Dream.. And it has all the pictures I took on the trips we were on.. And the trip we came back roads to get back is where the picture for the majority of my sites was taken.. At the 4:45 mark it is there, without the effects applied so it is the original picture.. After that, the next trip[ would have me trying to duplicate that type of shot.. There is just something about the open highway that I like and in the mountains it seems more dramatic than anywhere else, where the road can be seen up ahead either going up (or down) in elevation.. And at one point the road twists and turns a full circle to where you are facing the same direction you were going and then reversing, kind of like the old electronic slot car race track, only this is real.. This set of videos is set for uploading sometime around April or May but might be a set that gets uploaded in an earlier month since it isn't related to the infinity project, which are videos set to fractal type of visuals.. These videos that I just did get completed are more all my pictures as the visual.. So will more than likely be uploaded earlier.. Maybe..
