So whaddaya watchin' now.. This weekend saw a hodgepodge of movies and in fact there has been a lot of stuff I've started watching as well as just trying for maybe watching later or.. whatever.. First the movies this past weekend..
Texas Rangers.. Really an older movie but it's hard to call anything that was made in the early 2000's very old but when you think about it.. That is fairly old at around 15 years or so.. With Ashton Kutcher in it before his 2 1/2 men years.. right after his That 70's show.. The movie is set in 1875, a decade after the Civil War ended. During the
war, the Texas Rangers had disbanded to fight for the Confederacy. At
war's end, they were not reformed and the Union Army was occupying
Texas, charged primarily with defending the State from Indian
depredations. In the movie, the Governor of Texas asks Leander McNelly
to form a company of Rangers to deal with the banditry along the Mexican
border. Most of his company of Rangers are young men, orphans for the
most part and a smattering of veterans of the late war. Their prime
target is the bandit King Fisher who is stealing cattle, burning
ranches, raping, looting, pillaging and otherwise breaking the law.
Bowling for Columbine which is only partially about the Columbine massacre.. It is more about America and our obsession with guns.. There are points in the movie where Mr. Moore takes a look at the United States obsession with guns and violence and takes the crew to Canada and talks to people there and they have about as many guns as here, they just don't have the fear drummed into them like we have here..
A little clip from the movie.. This pretty much sums it all up..
The Marilyn Manson clip as well.. I'm not a fan of his music by any stretch but he has a point here..
House Arrest is a cute little movie from back in '96.. Mostly about trying to get their parents to stay together.. Kids do the darndest things and really the kids don't understand that mom and dad are likely tired of the daily routine.. But isn't that what they signed up for?? Truth is kids cause more divorce than anything really..
Now for the shows I am watching in one form or another.. Damages, I had this on disc a few years back and had to "binge" watch the show that way.. Truth is I didn't likely get into it as well as with watching it the way I am now with one episode a night.. at least one a night.. I dislike the way the show was going but as it gets closer to the end of season one it is getting good.. I was going to watch from season two but decided to watch season one what with it being a few years since watching it and that it was a binge watching session..
Royal Pains is back on the Netflix.. A favorite show.. Drop Dead Diva as well, not a very deep show but sometimes it's nice to watch a show that is more like cotton candy than anything else.. Hart of Dixie is the same way..
Daredevil is a current show that is on Netflix only and I am really getting into it.. It's a comic book story and I don't usually get into those kinds of shows.. But this is really different and really interesting..
