The Black and Decker MM2000 13 amp 20 inch deck.. So I went big, or about as big as electric mowers can go.. I think, and it isn't size that made me go this route.. Everything about another mower had me wanting .. :
They look a little alike except the deck is 15 inches which isn't why I decided against it.. Everything about this lawn mower had me sold that this was perfect for us.. Then I read a review that said "THIS MOWER WILL NOT MULCH" which is to say it will not .. well.. mulch, there is no plug to place in the grass catcher chute and as well there is no grass side throw.. The MM2000 does three, side chute, mulch and grass catcher.. 13 amps (some people would be turned off by the unlucky number 13.. that's my favorite number).. But as the day was coming for the mower to get here there were questions that came to my mind one of which was the 13 amps and would our electricity be able to have that much pull on it.. Turns out that was the least of the issues.. The big issue, and I read all the reviews before buying this, was the one that appeared the day before it arrived and I have it here for you to see, the only three star review, and I had to see what bad thing there was to look forward to, here it is, from the Amazon review of the MM2000 :
Great Mower, Flimsy Crucial Parts
Verified Purchase
Arrived last week, and was excited to get mowing. Very easy assembly
with just the handle bar adjustments and nothing more. Easily adjusts
cut height, and does an excellent job cutting overall; I have only used
the bagging accessory so far.
However, during the first time using it, the hook connecting the starter cable to the handle bar, that you must keep compressed to keep the mower running, snapped in half. Mower won't remain running as the cable just slips out, unattached.
Bad part quality? Definitely. Can be easily fixed with tape. Looks a bit janky, especially being brand new. This part really should be a much stronger material as it's crucial to the mower remaining operable.

And so that I worried about over the last 24 hours until I got the mower.. Well upon opening the mower I thought so what is this part and how advanced in technology is it, is it too far advanced for me to figure out.. Well I unboxed the mower, got it all set up and the only thing I could see was the plug in area, there was a white thing on the plug in.. Took my handy dandy multitool out, pulled on it and snap.. Aw.. Awe shit.. I broke it.. Then as I pulled on it some more it was the plug in protector.. You know the thing to keep the plugs from bending in transit.. So then I found the part that was broken on the review above.. Pissed me off that it was broken but then I realized that it is so unimportant to the mowers operation that I thought, why was that guy freaking out.. My fix was.. Well there is a cord holder under the on/off control section and you put the cord in there and it holds the supply side, where to most tension is on the cord.. That was it?? Why did the guy freak out? Why did I worry about it at all??
On with the review... After getting it and setting the handle and everything the moment of truth.. Hows it run?? Well last week if I would have had the mower on the day I wanted to start mowing it would have been the 4th.. The 5th it rained, so did the 6th.. The 7th is when the mower arrived and that morning it had rained and looked like it might rain all day that day as well.. By noon I felt the lawn and it seemed dry enough to at lest try.. When I started to mow, I used the grass catcher and set the mower one click from the highest.. Every site I have checked for how high to mow the lawn it says mow at the highest setting.. I went with the next to the highest level.. The grass catcher didn't catch much grass initially.. Why?? Two tries and I found out I didn't have it on there right.. But then it still took a long time to fill.. What was the deal now?? I then set the level down one click.. That must have done the trick, that bag filled three times in the lower section of the yard.. The front was a jungle but that mower kicked it like there was nothing to it.. 13 amps is a huge difference.. The other mower was 6.5 amps.. it was nice but that grass that day would have been too much, too tall and too wet.. I filled the lawn wagon five times with clippings.. That is the greatest news.. Last year I would mow the lower section short to rake the clippings and fill the compost tumbler. Don't need to torture any of the lawn anymore.. I wasn't after a grass catcher but after thinking about it I thought why not get one with that option.. On the other mower with the grass catcher only I didn't like that.. I like to mulch the grass as well.. And the grass chute thing, side grass discharge, it is really cool, it doesn't just open and send the grass flying, it sends the grass into a cup design and that means the grass comes out and into a windrow type of idea.. Makes retrieval of the grass (raking) easier if doing that is your number one idea.. This mower might make me lazy (er) ..

(P.S. Would I recommend this mower to anyone?? Hells yes, but do realize that it is electric and electric isn't for everyone.. Mine has an electric cord on it.. It is like being tethered to the house or electrical outlet.. which I have three sites around the house with one being in the middle of the front yard.. The cord is the fuel of the mower, and it can be a pain in the ass but it is so much easier to maintain, no gas, oil, nothing like a gas mower.. The shed smells like a shed that doesn't have a gas can in it...)
(P.P.S, So which mower came in second?? That's easy.. The 1800 model, aka last years model, or the model before the one I got.. Number three would be a tie between the Sun Joe Mow Joe.. Long name for that one, yes I was impressed with it.. The thing I wished we could have done was find a place that had a large selection of mowers of all types.. It does appear however that gas mowers are still the mower of choice, and the reason is likely that they are the mowers everyone thinks of when they think of mowing.. How do you change from the old gas to electric of any kind.. Well as I have said, for me it is physical ability, both of my shoulders have popped out of the socket and I know from watching two of my uncles get surgery on them that you should change the way you do things. I don't need the things to pop out regularly for me to say i should have stopped doing what caused that.. Everything we have is electric, mower, blower and tiller.. that's life..)
