Simply give it a (re)boot

So with the upgrade of the video conversion program giving me a little trouble the question might be asked is it a good idea to upgrade when one is offered??  Truth is it is in the eye of the beholder type of thing.. Some programs get easier to use and some there really is no noticeable difference when they upgrade/update.. Some are for stability reasons that they are updated.. Some I don't notice.. I have a program that converts audio tracks and rips audio from multiple sources, and the last several upgrades have meant nothing for me.. I got one upgrade that I decided this was it, the ultimate has been delivered so when a new upgrade is offered I read the "what's new" or change log and if there isn't anything worth the risk then I don't upgrade.. What's the risk??  Well some "free" programs have crap you don't want, they might change your search engine, change your homepage (been there, done that) or add a toolbar which they sure seemed like a cool idea.. There was a time when I thought a toolbar was seriously cool to have.. All these things on there and I had two or three or more.. Well that just bogs down the browser no matter which you use.  Today the Fast Stone (FastStone) picture viewer was acting up.. How to fix it?? Check for an update, which it had one from November, ok three weeks ago that works for me.. Got it installed it and still, the issue was still there.. A couple things to try when something like this happens and I did in reverse order.. Uninstall and go and get an earlier version. Trouble with this was I had to restart the computer because it was in not gonna budge mode (you know, like it does) and so the thing I should have done first was done, restart the computer, in this order when a program doesn't seem to be working right, restart the beast then check updates and if that doesn't work get the older version.. There are several sites that offer older versions of just about every program out there.. I did reinstall the older version and it worked fine.. Then I got the latest update and it worked fine so.. The restart of the computer was the fix more than likely.. That goes through my mind when something like that happens, just restart.. You hate to do that but it fixes so many issues..

Cold enough for you??  I was looking forward to the cooler weather.. I feel the same towards the excessive cold that I do the extremely hot days.. Could really live without them.. Oh well, guess I'll wear socks now..
